I loved this dvd. I hope they continue this. If they do I hope they make it darker ( i love angst) & I enjoyed Souske's spoiler[breakdown when he shot the hell out of...him. I wish they'd show more of what he'd done in the event Kaname was dead.]
This should have been longer- or at least another episode would have helped them get through the battle w/out the rushed feel.[/spoiler]

Souske's breakdown is absolutely stunning to watch. It's the second great highlight of the franchise in my mind. The Second Raid has blown me away with every episode and every twist. I want more badly. I sincerely hope for two things when Kyoto next animates some FMP!

First, make it a long series. Give me 24-26 episodes of pure adrenaline, intrigue, and passion. Second, a worthy villian. I liked Gates okay, but he was nothing compared to Gauron and he was also inferior to the twins. (I kind of wish spoiler[they hadn't died].)

My only problem with this volume is that some lunatic put credits on Tessa's shower scene! Evil or Very Mad What kind of evil person would do that? (And shame on Funimation for not giving us a nice creditless version.) Tessa fans demand an extended director's cut!

Yeah, it's obvious I'm sweet on her. Anime catgrin

Funniest thing about that OVA was spoiler[Souske misunderstanding Tessa's "blame it on love" line for a near declaration of alcoholism]. Also, spoiler[Mao is a pervert].

This was the best volume of the series. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Like Richard watching Sousuke's spoiler[slow decent into madness and his own personal hell was riviting. And the fact that they kept his decent in character worked so well. I don't think that I would have liked it half as much if Sousuke had started laughing and drooling - or something to that affect. The fact that he stayed quiet and internalized it, made it work all the more.]

The OVA was great. I'm glad that Funi included it. Too bad that they didn't add the Fullmetal Alchemist OVAs to the final of that series....Turkeys!

I sure as heck hope the they do more, and considering FMP+TSR only covers the first 5 books of the main story, there is definatly a lot of story left to tell. I always did like FMP, but I have to say that TSR hit the ball right out of the park this time. There were a few things that ticked me off :spoiler[ like Kyoko and the girls interrupting Sosuke and Kaname in the hall at school. I mean, damn it all, he was going to hug her. ] but overall, all TSR did was make me drool for more.

Ah, good to hear that the OAV was included; I'd feel incomplete without it. And I agree completely with the rushed ending; another episode would have been ideal.

Actually, that would be ADV. ADV did all of the production and Funimation handled marketing and distribution.

Swats forehead.

Sorry, I keep forgetting it was spread out between the two. Still aggravating regardless of who did it, at least for me. How difficult is it really to add creditless versions of scenes anyway? I've noticed on several releases there will be an episode or two where either the opening or the ending (sometimes both) will play over actual scenes but companies over here rarely include those scenes clean, even though they obviously have a clean version. (Otherwise you wouldn't see English credits with no trace of Japanese.)

Considering that some releases are extremely light on extras, wouldn't it be a good idea to pad things out a little?

It's a minor complaint compared to some, but it's very irritating considering I was rather looking forward to my Tessa fanservice.

Yeah I was also hoping for some more from this: more episodes, more intimate Kaname + Sousuke moments and more Tessa fanservice Anime smile. I also liked spoiler[Sousuke's complete breakdown and the look on Gauron's finally dead face, I mean how many times has he died or supposed to died?] Very Happy

Look on the bright side, at least Tokyopop is bringing over the novels (hopefully all of them!). I doubt I could ever get enough of this franchise, but if this is it, it was a great finish!

My favorite anime series and I have to say that I would not be satisfied if they ended it here. There has to be at least one more, I know it.

Second Raid is definitely my favorite FMP series (so far!). I enjoyed parts of the first one, but the humor has never really . . . resonated with me, since it seems largely based on Souske doing something embarassing, and I rarely find embarassment amusing, Just not my thing. An entire FMP series constitued mostly of drama, action, and massive character development is absolutely riveting.

I really hope that more of it is animated, especially since Kaname's Whispered ability is definitely the LEAST of the unanswered questions. I mean, spoiler[Tessa's brother is gonna be interesting and the fact that Gates was an android presumably built by him completely blew my mind.]

Also, it would be nifty if, at some point, Souske made a point of telling Kalinin that they can be pretty sure spoiler[Gauron is actually, really, completely, permanently dead this time.]

Yay for translated original novels/stories![/spoiler]

When I saw that, I thought I was halucinating. Shocked

I hope Kyoto Animation will make more FMP! soon. I seem to remember reading that they said something about doing something with it on a semi-annual basis. Hope to see more animated soon, considering what one3rd mentioned in a thread long past about certain events in A Dancing Merry Christmas (that's the right title for that novel right?)

It really would be wonderful if they did a longer series.
