I think they're punks for not extending the block to 4 hours. It'll leave space for many more genres of anime.

Maybe that's just me.

Is it confirmed that it is Blackjack the movie? I wasn't certain if they (Manga) had the rights to the TV show or not...

Nice. But what does "Read or Die video series" refer to? The show? It couldn't mean the OVA. Those are the only two (animated) ROD properties I'm familiar with.

Finally a reason to watch SciFi Channel again. A long time ago they used to have all sorts of good shows and it was one of my favorite channels. Now, with a few exceptions it is mostly dreck, and I hardly watch that channel anymore. It would be nice if the block was longer but, it is better than nothing. Smile

Well the ROD OVA is very good, but just short. So far with what they have said, it will be about 2 months of programing. With the exception of Street Fighter 2, which has something like 30 episodes*cringe*.

Can you imagine how edited their movie will be? What's the point of showing "Ninja Scroll" if all of it's best parts (that's right, I said it) are going to be cut out?

I would have to say it referes to the OVA. Since ME has the distribution rights for the OVA and Pioneer ( I still refeuse to call them Geneon lol) has the rights for the TV series, I'm pretty sure it means the OVA.

Sci Fi is a cable channel, they shouldn't have to edit anything, unless the show had been already edited and they don't have the origanal(non-edited)version.

many shows/movie on Sci Fi are worst than Ninja scroll anyway.

It will be very interesting what Sci-Fi channel's anime ratings will be compared to Cartoon Network's. Although I do understand that they attract different kinds of viewer, if CN gets it's butt handed to them, maybe Kim "I hate really girly shows and fan service" Manning might get a clue.

I love that it's a mix of movies, short OVAs, and some longer series. I prefer movies to series, especially long series (26+), because I fear commitment. Very Happy

Hopefully, Ani-Monday does well and they can expand it to the rest of week, and maybe weekends.

Hmm... nice to see some more of the lineup, but it'll be interesting to see where they go with things, as Manga only has about 7-8 licensed TV series, with the bulk of their properties being movies and OAVs. Hopefully this'll mean that we'll get to see them work their way through the better portion of their catalog(rather than sticking to just a few titles that'll get stale no matter how good), and the more I think about it, the more this pairing makes sense, as SciFi's always had a bunch of miniseries and original movies in their programming(not that the quality is necessarily up there, mind you).

The first Read or Die anime project was a video series, released from 2001 to 2002 in Japan. It was a short series— which is why Manga Entertainment packaged all the episodes on one volume and therefore why some people think it was a one-shot video—but a series nonetheless.

Ah, I see. I saw it as the movie cut, so it's hard t think of as a series. 3 episodes isn't going to last long, that's for sure.

The only titles from the Black Jack that are licensed is the Movie which is held by Manga Entertainment. The other title is the Black Jack OAV which is currently a CPM license. So it's more then likely just the movie were going to see.

I am guessing that Manga intend to Milk Tokko and Noein for the long haul, while sprinkling in bits of movies and OAV to hold this block over. So basically it's going to come down to how popular Noein and Tokko are.
