Nice. I'm very much looking forward to checking out the Shana novels.

I've been looking forward to Brave Story for a looong time (along with all of Miyabe's books aside from the three already released in America, when's someone gonna step up with them?) so I'm glad it's finally showing up stateside. Though I would have liked for Kodansha International to release this one too (they handled Crossfire and Shadow Family wonderfully) the releases for Kamikaze Girls and Socrates in Love weren't bad. This also reminds me that I still need to get Be With You.

Too bad the Shana novel got delayed until October. I was looking forward to reading it last month too. Sad

I'm actually really getting into the this seemingly new trend from manga publishers. I know they have been doing novelizations of mangas and games (like FMA and .hack) for a few years, but the translations of new novels is great. I may check out a few of these.

Let's hope they get good translations. I am working through Tokyopop's Sekai Trilogy right now, and even though it's a good story, the translation is flat-out awful in parts. Let's hope that "The Twelve Kingdoms" (also Tokyopop) set a new precedent that VIZ lives up to with these upcoming offerings.

Damn, if I had known they were going to re-release the Innocence prequel, I'd have waited.

The Shana novel is already out, you just have to know where to look. I've heard from people who've gotten it, and have seen one of the edited pictures from it. And before anyone asks, the edits are:
There was a color image of Yuuji waking up to Shana in bed with him, that was cropped to remove Shana's panties
A black and white version of the above image was removed completely
A black and white image of Shana standing in her panties, covering her (lack of) breasts with her hands and hair was removed completely too

Huh. Amazon actually claims to have it in stock, while TRSI still has it as a pre-order and coming out in October. That's very odd. I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon. Let's see what happens.

UPDATE: In my order confirmation e-mail, it states that the estimated ship date is tomorrow, so I guess Amazon really does have the Shana novel already.

Maybe they're adding those edited scenes back in?

Is the whole delay thing really happening, or is it all just a bunch of mis-information? I think I got my copy of the book something like 2 weeks before the release date Rolling Eyes

While I'm not expecting it, I'm hoping Viz will undo the edit during the delay. I'm hoping that perhaps they had originally edited and then relaxed their editing policy and forgot to undo the edit, then suddenly realized it after a few volumes shipped, then recalled them all and delayed the release so they could fix everything. I can only hope at this point.

That does make sense. Of the edits mentioned, I don't really mind tough. I can just watch the anime if I want to see that.

EDIT: Amazon just shipped my Shana novel (got the e-mail at about 3:15 PM my time) so they really do have it.
