Wow, go Dragon Ball. It's interesting to see this reaction by Japanese fans, this many years after DB/Z was actually a "relevant" title.

This is the first time DB/DBZ has ever been released on single in Japan so that's why it's doing so well.

Right, I know, that's why it's interesting. The question in my mind was whether long-time fans (since there aren't any current fans of something that is long gone from TV) would still care enough to spend the kind of money this requires, or whether their interest would have cooled off over time.

Naruto is misspelled.

Looks like your question got answered. In a pretty direct way I might add.

The thought in my mind is how different the marketing strategies are between the US and Japan. Would said company have made more money if they had marketed like a western company would have(i.e. these releases would have happened long ago). Like this would have been a great time to release remastered digital aniverseries, assuming the basics had already been released before. But I guess they know what they are doing.

20 something years after it started, DB's still going fairly strong. Hey, Iritscen, do you like Rurouni Kenshin? I'm asking since your avatar is a photo of the real Hajime Saito.

Yep, you guessed right, Ctimene's Lover. RK is in my top three anime. I had the RuroKen version of Saito as my avatar since joining the board, but I decided to go with the lesser-known sole surviving real picture (that's believed to be) of him. He was a fascinating individual, and he really did 'survive countless deathmatches'.

Yeah, most of the extras for DB are on the Dragon Boxes released for it, but since it was so expensive, most people go with these alternative singles for a much cheaper price.

Kanon beat DB/Z huh? That's impressive.

Even though it's already pretty obvious this just helps to show how Dragonball owns in Japan. It's been so big for so long now and is truely one of the epic titles over there. I don't think it's that big of a surprise to see it selling so well since it's such a mainstay there.
