And now.....All of the 4kids bashing fanpeople.....Commence bashing!

Seriously, it's a shame. OP aside, they have made a positive contribution to anime fandom as a whole.

Have they? I see them as more of an impediment to people taking anime seriously.

That was fast.

I'm referring to a bigger picture. A lot of the TMNT & Yu Gi Oh fans may agree. Maybe not. To sum up my thinking, I'm referring to Pre-One Piece times.

4kids is always going to be in a lose/lose situation with anime fans. People will complain because they release "hack jobs" of there favorite shonen series, and then when they do release uncut dvds no buys them because "Well I am too far on my fansub I am not going to wait all this time to catch up with the series". Lets not
forget 4Kids is here to make money, they don't really care about us, (anime fan/Otaku) they want to appeal to little kids who are suppose to buy the toys which is where ya make money.

I just wonder if Chaotic will ever take off for them, I just don't see it happening for some reason.

I think the TMNT creative had issues with how they were being treated by 4KIds.

And yes 4Kids going away is good news, other companies that aren't as asinine can take their place. I don't really view 4Kids as being responsible for anime becoming popular, they were just the lucky bastards who got a hold of the pokemon license and took advantage of the obvious cash-cow created from the videogame and collectible card game tie-ins.

Yet they've utterly failed to do that beyond Pokemon and Yugioh which again have popular tie-ins. So in that sense they are failures, and their approach to marketing anime does not work anymore.

I can't wait till 4kids burns down and crashes into the depth of bankruptcy.

What they did to One Piece is unforgivable, not to mention Viz is a supporter of 4kids terrible adaption and includes it in the manga. Zolo? Roguetown?.... Die 4kids die.

And ya wonder why so many of us are ashamed to be label anime fans....sheesh, what could it do to have 4kids file chapter 11? Not only that there are 325 other people who are employed by 4kids that need to make a living.

They need to diversify. Seriously.

And i'll state it again: They should've utilized their 4Sight Entertainment Branch or have Viz release Uncut One Piece DVD's, and import a whole crapload of Luffy Pencils and Nami body pillows and merchendise the heck outta it. They could've won alot of Anime Fans over with disposeable income, but they didn't.

Why they didn't do it given Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh had the same tactics (Merchendise the living crap outta the property) i'll never understand.

Uh Oh...If 4kids goes under who will perpetuate the steryotype that all cartoons are for kids?

you sorta raise a decent point but the problem is it would require a drastic shift in the companies direction. I mean theyre 4kids. Can you really see them releasing anything maketed for teens or other ages?

Idunno, I think theyre problem is simply that they lack any big name titles right now. When marketing to kids you live or die by your big hits. What have they got? the Yugioh fad has passed, what else do they have in the way of bid hits? Its kinda tough for a company like this because kids are so unpredictable. Who knows what will catch on and what wont.

Zolo's name is also going to be Zolo is the Funimation version for copyright reasons. (last I heard anyway). And I like Zolo better because all I think about is Antonio Banderas in a black cape and mask the other way.

Well it looks like 4kids is getting a vengeful taste of karma thats long over due, 4kids might have a chance to survive if Al "Kids don't read" Kahn resigns.

I agree with everyone, one of the only reasons why they give up on Onepiece because the merchandise was'nt selling,Hell, even Al Kahn stated in his Press con that the reason why they stream the shows so that the little kids would buy the products, and to them,if the merchandise does'nt sell, than the show is'nt worth keeping.

this is why they attempted to make the show more kid friendly by skipping a crap load of those Arcs so they can try to be the next Pokemon trying to sell Tony Chopper Merchandise, but they failed miserably at that.

right now,so far,Chaotic and Viva Pinata( with the exception of the X-box 360 game) are'nt selling right now,but who knows, maybe they'll become they're next selling Merchandise

another reason would be that Toei animation were not pleased with what 4kids have done to it.[/b]

I think that it was just that in the beginning of the mainstream anime phase, 4kids was the figurehead. Now Viz, etc. have a good portion of the market, and they do it better. Why choose 4kids when you have better options?

But yes, I'd like to see an end to that "anime is stupid and for kids" thing that they're bringing out. -_-;
