Hm.. it's too bad the review wasn't so hot. I actually like the series a great deal because it's very nostalgic of my own high school days. For any average anime watcher, they'd probably say, "man, there's not way this kind of complexity / hestiancy can happen between real people, right?" I beg to differ... And if you thought things were complicated in just the first volume, wait till about the middle of the series Anime smallmouth.

In any case, yeah, the art is decent, but the animation is just terrible. I did enjoy the BGM, though, especially the piano pieces of the main melody (I'd probably rate it in the high B's or low A's, personally). It gets me all mellow and in the mood to reminisce about the past (and believe me, I was quite the drama king when it came to my high school romance, I was kind of a combination of all three of them; Akitsuki, Suzuka, and Honoka Embarassed).

I will agree that the animation is really awful. I find that many other ANN rated series that also get a C grade for animation have much better animation than Suzuka. The episodes themselves were mildly entertaining. The series feels far to shonen for my taste. I was hoping that it would be the rare shoujo sports title from a brief description I read. I just hope there is some development between characters since I've had enough of these series that don't go anywhere.

Much like Funimations Tsubasa Chronicles, I find the Englsh logo a bit bold and clunky compared to the Japanese logo. Fortunately it is easy to change the angle to see the other credits.

I think I would agree with the B-. This series really wasn't the greatest, while the high jumping was kind of cool, the rest of the series was quite predictable. But I will say that I love the ending theme^-^

Something about this series really rubbed me the wrong way. It felt really sluggish and as if it was plodding through a cliche plot. Also the main character guy was soooo annoying and for me, none of the characters were either believable or appealing.
Sad
