Man, if they got the rights already, why do I have to wait a year for them to get it out here? Theatrical plans maybe? Or is it just a reverse importation issue?

I have to agree with you. I don't want to wait a year either. I hope that it will be early 2008. Before you know it this year will be over. Wink

Well, that will be another 'Shirow' title to pick up since I finally picked up the first movie.

It is good to hear news of some sort of time frame. The only reason I can think of that Geneon didn't get it, is for some sort of plans of a theater release. And more than some sort of one day or weekend deal as well.

Either way, can't wait! Smile

I hope Ex Machina gets a theater release! I saw the first movie in an indie theater in Cleveland, and it just rocked on the big screen. Also, Appleseed is one of those titles that's not really so 'anime-y'; I can see it doing well in theaters.

That's a good point since the R2 theatrical release is scheduled for 10/20/07 with no DVD or HD release date yet on cdjapan.

If Geneon was able to get the first movie a fairly decent release I am sure Warner will probably get this movie more screens. At least I hope so, and yea it probably the reverse importation issue, although I don't see why they can't screen it and then release it earlier.

World wide eh? so it looks like Australia will be getting a release through Warner as well. Unless something with Madman Entertainment has been prearranged...

and an unspecified "high definition format disc."

Hmm, started to wonder if it might be their new multi-format disc, but then having a separate DVD release would be unecessary (except to provide a discount sku.) Although, it could always just be dual rather than tri-format.
