I'm losing my mind.
Somehow I thought that the TRSI panel had already come up on here so I was wondering why Nozomi Entertainment wasn't mentioned...old timers diesese more than likely. I think that seperating the Store from the Anime Distribution section was an excellent more on TRSI's behalf. I think that it will work out for the best in the long run. |

Wow, hurray for Victorian Romance Emma! I just finished watching this (thanks for the recommendation, dormcat!
 ) and really enjoyed it. I look forward to buying it on R1. The fact that it's sub-only doesn't bother me at all; in fact, I rather appreciate it. I'm putting in my pre-order now.

No problem. 
As a sub-watcher, it is rather rare for me to look forward to an English dub, for I really want to hear the dialog in British accent. It is rather ironic that while most R1 releases (including those of Japanese folktale stories that are not very suitable to be watched in other languages) are dubbed, titles like Emma that would be way much better with an English dub do not (or cannot) receive one, probably due to reverse importation prevention. If all I wanted was a subbed DVD I would have bought the R3TW edition last year (although it was released by a mediocre company  ).
Now I look forward to an R2UK dubbed edition, just like how Millennium Actress was released. |

However, is R2UK even interested in picking Emma up to begin with? I have to admit that from things I've read about UK Period Piece type shows (which is the genre Emma would fit into if it was live action) that come out of the UK, the domestic UK audience isn't all that fond of them. Instead most of these types of shows are made mainly for the foreign TV export markets.
Of course this is all internet chatter and I don't know for certain how accurate it is but I think it is worth keeping in mind. Because while I think it would be nice for this show to get a dub (for those who want it), and said dub should be made in the UK, I'm not sure how likely the show even getting picked up for a R2UK release really is (in other words, don't bet on it coming out, let alone getting a dub, in R2UK). |

I'm doubting that an R2UK English dub of Emma would come about, considering that while Millenium Actress is a film from a noteable director, Emma is a much longer, lower budget TV series.
I dont mind this at all though. See how things go and all. I imagine a million years ago I'd be all pissy and whingy about sub only boxsets, but I figured that honestly, this is how the material is originally represented, so this is the very least that should be in. You shouldn't need a dub to enjoy a series. |

That would be the usual case, but remember those who would buy Emma DVD are fond of British culture, and if I didn't buy the R3TW release just in order to wait for the R1US (which turned out to be rather disappointing for being sub-only) I bet there are many Japanese potential buyers who have the same thought. |

Just thought I'd point out, that it's not that Lost Universe didn't get a DVD release, it's that it never got a DVD SET release. *has watched the series on DVD*

 That's TRSI's way of say "We have absolutely no clue when this is going to come out even though it's on our website so we don't recommend you order this just yet."

Like the fact that Nozomi Entertainment was connected to Rightstuf, they originally didn't sell anime when they started, and why they don't carry Japanese manga. |
