Hn...That's interesting.... Not too sure about Voltron live-action, but I'd watch it just to see (if it happens, that is).

I <3 TokyoPop despite what they do~ but films of liscences that don't have series or movies sounds cool~ <3

Voltron was the 1984-1985 American adaptation of the King of Beasts Golion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV robot anime series.

Kind of like Robotech? Or is it to a lesser extent? Can someone help me there?

With the success of the transformers movie, it's very possible that Voltron live action will be happening.

I mean.... c'mon, even speed racer is having a live action movie

Not really. GoLion was(I believe) before Macross/Robotech. Voltron has 5 robot lions that can combine to form one giant robot.

And I'm not sure about the Voltron movie taking place solely on Earth, it should be partly on Earth then move onto Planet Doom, and then Planet Arus, where the anime took place.

I knew that much, I was referring to the fact it's an adaptation of several anime, like Robotech. And the latter edited numerous things (story, dialogues, continuation etc, etc) to make it feel like a whole, also making it a bit different from the source material. So I was wondering how much does change affect the whole series? I should have made that clearer, sorry. So anybody can tell me?

I'm hoping that, unlike that other robot movie, this one will actually be about the mechs and not the humans. Regardless of whether or not it has a multi-cultural cast, I don't want it to suddenly become some crappy merger of Rent and Go Ranger.

Anyway, I didn't know that the Pet Shop thing was reported last year. Ah, well.

I seriously hope they at least keep some camp in Voltron. Not a complete ego trip like Transformers. Or the remake from the 90's.

The new venture is shepherding plans for Lament of the Lamb and Princess Ai, partly out of concern that previous film attempts such as Screen Gems' Priest have stalled with other partners.

I really have to wonder how the casting would be for Princess Ai. If they use Courtney, then all hope is truely lost.

Other titles with shelved or ongoing adaptation plans include East Coast Rising at Starz, Pet Shop of Horrors at Focus Features' Rogue Pictures, Riding Shotgun at Tokyopop Pictures, and I Love Halloween at Tokyopop Pictures. Tokyopop announced last week that it signed a deal with the William Morris Agency, a company that represents creative clients and talents in Hollywood and other industries.

Wow, three craptastic properties and one potential butchering. I dunno, given the subject matter in Pet Shop of Horrors, it might get snipped alot.

Uh, since when was Voltron "about the mechs" and not the pilots?

Good question. Voltron was(If I remember right) almost always about the pilots/humans. Mainly Lotor trying to capture Princess Allura and marry her so he could rule Arus.

Yes, that's why people are more likely to have action figures of the pilots more than the cat bots? Rolling Eyes

You're saying that the movie should be more like the toys than the anime? Wink

Remember, you said you're hoping the Voltron movie will "be about the mechs and not the humans." If it is "not" about the pilots, then it would not be similar to the Voltron series.

Oh, c'mon! People sat through the stories of the pilots because they were waiting for the fights. If the movie gave the humans any more screen time, they might as well just re-title it to Power Rangers.

Uh, some episodes of Voltron didn't even feature robot fights. Arguably, having episode-ending robot fights is what made Voltron (and its anime predecessors) into Toei Animation's animated versions of Toei's own sentai franchise. Because, that was what they were in Japan.

this film cant be made. it would come out power rangers.

now that you mention the names, it is apparent that Voltron was an all out slaughter of GoLion. dammit it sounds like the names I've heard when i asked some questions (that i regretted) about Warriors of the Wind. two names and i stopped, cause i couldnt take any visual thoughts.

Thank God that besides disney, Hayao Miyazaki will never let hollywood touch his films (i.e. Nausicaa). EVER!
