Only at 100 theatres and at #1 with 2.4 million $ ???

Did the otaku go see it 100 times over and over or something, or is Evangelion like Pokemon and is one of the few popular, high selling anime (theatrically wise)? I also think the link to Utada added to some money, Japan is crazy for that lady.

The thing about movie theaters in Japan compared to here is that tickets are sold like event ticket stubs. So going to watch something a bunch of times is really rare. Also tickets alone are far more expensive.

yay, another evangelion to have 20 versions sold over and over agian and for everbody to jump on the band wagon and say its the best movie ever
