The annoyingly unnecessary narration remains, you mean. Though I don't mind it myself.

I still need to watch this. I bought it about a week ago lol. Honestly we bought other things also (Shana) and about the only reason I've been a bit reticent to watch this show is that narrator voice. Don't get me wrong, I still like the show despite it, but it is very annoying.

I'm sure the voice isn't going away anytime soon though.

I ordered volume one, two, and three (with the artbox) about a week ago. It looks very promising.

There is something very cinematic about this series. I think some of it is due to it's pacing, while I think the actual directing lends itself to a larger television as well. Between some great long shots, beautiful details in the background and small fonts for episode titles this is a series to watch on a big screen.

The 7th episode with the ant queen is one of the best anime television episodes that I've seen in some time. It reminded me of something out of Nausicaa. Honoka is one of those really strong female protagonist who is both strong and feminine. All too often "strong" female characters are no different from their male counterparts besides offering a good amount of fan service, but like Nausicaa and Kurau, Honoka isn't just another hot girl performing a typical male role.

I feel that at this point it doesn't look like this series will be a big seller which is a shame, but I'm really glad that the review here is giving it it's due praise. I also love Right Stuf's job with this series, especially the Japanese credits followed by English credits (like ADV's recent Macross release) for individual episodes. With Noein, Fate/Stay, Utawarerumono, Zipang, and Ergo Proxy's final DVDs released Third (along with Kurau and D'Eon) has moved into my current favorite series.

This review makes me happy. I have yet to watch the second disc, but I enjoyied the first very much so it is good to hear that things keep turning out well. I really think that this will end up being one of my favorite series that has made it out in years. Here's hoping that the trend continues.
