So, another new company steps into the foray to distribute classic anime alongside other comers such as ImaginAsian and Discotek.

Great news for Unico fans. Smile Hope to see more classic stuff get a release.

Oh wow!

I'll keep my eyes open for pre-orders. I used to rent the original 1980's release from my local video store back when I was 4-7 years old all the time. It's been ages since I've seen it. Yay! Very Happy

I remember Unico when I was a kid. I believe it was on Disney. Fun times. Thought it was pretty imaginative for a cartoon. Can not wait for it to be released.

If any New Galaxy reps happen to come on board, are you open to suggestions for future licenses? Since you guys seem to be interested in Shoujo, maybe you can consider picking up Glass Mask, Pumpkin Wine, Princess Knight, and maybe...Rose of Versailles?

Despite popular belief, neither Karen Prell nor Wendee Lee were in Unico.

In fact, the widespread cast lists for the dubs of both Unico films (found on IMDb and thus spread elsewhere) are completely inaccurate.

The only accurate online cast list for the first Unico film can be found here.

Lets see what they can do with one title before getting anymore. I am glad a company is taking a chance on a classic anime as it's first though and I'm willing to see this. It looks so cute!

I do agree with KabaKaba though. I want to see Princess Knight and Rose of Versailles badly! But being that it's a new company is it likely? Are they only going to focus on the classics?

I wonder how much is it to realease?

This is actually a license Discotek tried to persue but couldn't get for whatever reason.

It's great to see another company dedicated to classic anime, now lets please support them guys.

I saw the Unico pilot and I LOVED it so I'm keen to see this as well, if they do a good job it would be great if they could pick up the other Unico films/pilot. Maybe some more Tezuka and Masami Hata films?

I'm curious about this company.... there's not much info on their website. Still, given they've just launched it, and ANN's reporting on it, I'm not too worried about their authenticity.

The promise of classic shojo titles definitely does have me optimistic- hopefully, they'll find a way to bring over some really special titles in a quality, and keep themselves in buisness [given today's market, launching a new anime company can be difficult, though if they find a way, it means a more diverse market for everyone]

Oddly, I remember seeing this on VHS when I was little. Cool that it's getting rereleased, Unico is so cute.

I only ever saw a tiny, tiny smidge of Unico (consisting of the line "Hi, I'm Unico!", specifically Laughing ) It was very cute, even in a 3-second dose. I'd buy it. Very Happy
