I was worried they had packaged a pin in a condom, which would probably puncture the condom which would make the condom useless, I'm glad to discover this is not the case.

Actually, the AIKa-related work in question is a novel.
Suzuki Akira is a novelist who worked as an editor for ASCII.

And I'm sorry to say so, but though the ANN staffer wrote the reading of 「拝入蘭人」 as 'Hainyū Ranjin' in this ANN article, as I have said, the reading of 「拝入蘭人」 should be 「はいるらんと」.

It's a pleasure.

Since Suzuki Akira is a fan of AIKa, he wrote, '驚き、狼狽し、また、うれしかったのがこの仕事。なにしろ10年越しでファンだった作品の、それも新作に関われるなんて！' in the postscript.

As to the illustrations, what Yamauchi did is a part of them. The black and white illustrations for the book were drawn by Kurotama Showkai, who also did the illustrations for the Stratos 4 novels with Yamauchi.
