I love how their description of Crunchyroll (from a press kit, no doubt) ignores the piracy angle.

| With the attention scanlations and illegal fansub downloads have had in the last year (the issue has been serious for years but it really attention sparked last year), such alternatives are very good. |

Maybe it'll be a move to legitimize Crunchyroll a bit? I don't think they're stupid and not know that they pirated stuff. They know Youtube is in on that too, but they're jumping in with the pirates so to speak.
Also, I think it's smart to offer pay-content for higher resolution downloads. Surely it'd be downright silly watching shows on Youtube or other streaming services. |
