What? A Highlander remake? But there can only be one... Laughing

I didn't know this existed, this looks interesting.

They have a lot of work to do if they are going to remake that last Highlander anime. It had great art, but the story was extremely weak.

Why couldn't they do something like the old Highlander cartoon from the lat 90's, that IMO had good story and art!

I hope they change their whole "vengeance" approach. A trained monkey would have become a better fighter faster than MacLeod did in this film. You'd think with the two thousand year difference, he would at least get a little better.

Well, he did get better. Besides, he had 2,000 years to get better, which means his enemy also had 2,000 years to get better.

I was going to say, you'd have to do more of a director's rewrite than a "cut" to make this movie anything more than utterly generic. The sword fight on the plane wing was admittedly cool, though, and I liked the overabundance of stereotypical Scottish accents in the dub. Razz

You are overreacting, this is supposed to be a B movie. Nobody wants to watch Evangelion in this kind of anime, it's all about blood and action.

Oh God, just stop it already. I usually find Kawajiri's movies decent to pretty good, but I can say that this is one that I actually loathed. I don't think any amount of cuts put back in will save it. Move on, make another Vampire Hunter D movie or something.

I don't really understand the hate for this movie myself. I don't think the story is any worse than your average action movie. But I don't really agree with ANN's low score of the movie or IGN's high score. Somewhere around the middle.

That would be more preferable. They're wanting to do another adaptation for volumes 7 and 8 of the novel series. Let's hope it actually happens.

I'm pretty pissed off about this. Had I known that a director's cut was coming I would've held off on buying the version that's out now. If they going to do something like that they should've at least let us know sometime in advance. It was not even a week later when they said that a director's cut was coming...

The director's cut was mentioned back in January. This pagewent up at the same time as the standard edition. I actually ordered it during a buy two get one free special. Since it was the cheapest of three items it was the free DVD. I recently got a "order placed on: Jan 24 2007, item status: Cancelled by manufacturer or per your request, more information" message about my order status so sadly I bought two DVDs and got none free!

This doubly sucks since I also bought the Ghost in the Shell Blu Ray release on January 24th as well and it's status is "Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society BluRayDisc 0.00 On Order From Manufacturer" since it was the cheapest of three DVDs I bought from that set. I wonder if I can get $70 MSRP credit instead of two free unavailable discs here? If only those two discs were not my cheapest choices I would probably have gotten away with a buy one get one free deal instead.

As I mentioned in another thread, Rightstuf does not do accurate information.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in several interviews and articles about the movie back when it first came out in the US. In fact, at the time Manga Entertainment was hoping to have the Directors Cut out by Christmas.

Anywho, I hate double dipping but I'm pretty curious as to what was cut from the original release. Looking forward to it at any rate.
