While Paprika wasn't too bad, there were definitely lots of anime titles that are better than Paprika! 100 Best Films ever? No way! What about all those movies by Miyazaki?! What about Ghost in the Shell?! What about Akira?!
Paprika as one of the best animated films ever....... yes, definitely. Paprika as one of the best films last year.... yes, definitely. Paprika as one of the best films ever in movie history......... it just wasn't good enough. |

| You can start making the case 'Paprika' is a bit to shallow in the story department to propel it to any 'all time' heights, but the listed movies are a pretty odd bunch to begin with. 'Barton Fink', 'JFK', '21 Grams', 'American Splendor', etc.? Not saying it's filled with outright bad movies, but there's a big streak of trendy 'Bravo Channel'-ish 'snotty but still middlebrow' in that list. Weird stuff. |

Paprika's one of my favorite anime movies, at the least, and although I think that Millennium Actress is the superior Kon film, it's a great choice.
As a side note, Magnolia is one of my top 10, personally. |
