I wonder if the "issue" in Japan has anything to do with WHERE THE HELL IS MY PHANTOM BLOOD DVD (which isn't even out in Japan, and I'd be willing to import it...)

Maybe the company had received letters about this series being too graphic? I don't work in that company so I don't know.

I don't care much about that, but:

1) Yeah, where the hell IS my Phantom Blood DVD?! I still drool over the trailer from time to time

2) Why won't anyone publish the manga? I'd give anything for the first two JoJo arcs.

For anyone still looking for any fo the JoJo DVDs, my local FYE had one or two scattered in a section for $9.88 DVDs (plus 20% off or something). They normally didn't carry the DVDs, so maybe other stores will have them too?

Possibly the worst distributed R1 anime DVDs in history.
(Although Orguss is giving it a run for its money.)

Years ago I tried e-mailing them about where to get their JoJo DVDs; they directed me to a local comic book shop.
The guys at the comic shop had never even heard of it, but tried their best to order the series for me. Even they couldn't get it.

I gave up.

I'm glad I bought TRSI's bundle last month but I still need to exchange the two volumes with scratched up disks.

mr.satan: STA got screwed by Broccoli, since the latter company originally supposed to handle distribution. So STA had to sell and replicate the dvds on their own, back when the series only was known through the arcade game and a brief blurb in Jump U.S.A. Capcom backing down on releasing the PS2 game here didn't help things, either.

Yeah. It's not like Super Techno Arts did all that great a job releasing it as it was. Geez. If anything this should have ended up at Media Blasters. Has Super Techno Arts ever done anything else? I know they tried ot do Sci Fi Harry. Saw their preview of it at a con and never heard from them since. My roommate bought a (I think) VHS and T-shirt preview of JoJo way back in the day from them.

JoJo is pretty cool. You just never saw it anywhere. Plus two eps per DVD sucked, even for a short series.

Two eps per dvd was fine for FLCL, and it's fine for Jojo.

I was lucky enough to get all the DVDs cheap at my local comic shop. Shame about STA, I hope another company gives this show shot, like Funi or Viz (it'd be good publicity for the manga).

What are YOU talking about? The movie which came out last year hasn't been released stateside or in Japan. As for the Manga, Viz's release of it begins with arc 3 of the series skipping some 11 volumes worth of content. Much as I'd love to see everyone's favourite robo-nazi get his chance to make it to american shores, I don't see it happening.

At this point I'm just praying that they keep going once they reach arc 4 cause all the scanlations I've seen of it have been... painfully bad to say the least.

I'm sorry but I'm glad to see Jojo finally being released from the handling of a company that couldn't sell it straight. I'm a huge Jojo fan and seeing the series get a laughable attempt at a promo just disgusts me.

Maybe someone else will finally give the OVA a better chance at a release.

From what I've heard, the Phantom Blood movie isn't very good. The movie is more of an abridged version of the series 1 manga and Speed wagon isn't in it. If you want to see a more faithful adaptation of Series 1, import the PS2 game of Phantom Blood.

Capcom is not the rights holder to Phantom Blood on PS2, Namco Bandai is.
