Interesting, so this show in particular is being pushed for a television slot? I don't see any reference to broadcast rights being acquired for STRAIN or Il Teatrino.

If it does get a broadcast, it would be on one of those subscriber channels or cut (which would suck badly) since the anime contains spoiler[nipples getting cut off and eaten, and incestuous acts]

IFC will hopefully air Gunslinger Season 2 like they did season 1...i hope

With Funimation grabbing this up I can't wait to see what kind of butchering edit job they do to it. If anything I'll get a good laugh out of watching it.

... Which is why they gave a trailer showing spoiler[the main character smashing a man's face in and a completely nude woman getting decapitated?]

Unless you're referring to potential edits for television viewings -- which I am doubtful will happen, considering only a few potential PPV channels would air this -- then the knee-jerk reaction isn't warranted.

Seriously, what year did you write this post?

1998?

Things have changed.

Watch IFC tonight and watch Speed Grapher - uncut with all the language and naughty bits. On TV - not DVD - TV.

You're ridiculously off base in your comments here. Have you watched anything funimation has released recently? Can you tell me what these "butchering" edits are?

Unless Shigurui is a comedy that makes a lot of jokes that refer to Japanese pop culture or puns with the Japanese language I hardly see any reason why Funi would bother making any edits simply because Funi hasn't been that kind of company since DBZ. Shin-chan falls under this category and while some may call it a butcher job I find the dub to be a real riot.

Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be best to change the name of the company: "Funimation" just sort of has this childish ring to it anyway. (Okay, I'll admit, I've always thought it was a really LAME name)

Then you could stop all (most) of this bad association with the past and have a cleaner slate.

I get the same way with Mixx Zine, oh I'm sorry, Tokyo Pop. Laughing

Oh wait, maybe in their case, it may still be warranted. Wink
