So Zatch Bell! has it's last hoorah, but I think the Makoto Raiku/Shogakukan thing probably boosted the sales.
People sure do love some Air gear (and so do I!)

Wow, Hajime no Ippo is up to 84 volumes. Is the story coming to an end anytime soon? |

What's amazing is that it still manages to be so popular among the japanese in spite of being at its 84th volume. Also, there seems to be no complaints among ippo fans in the US of its being too long. Inuyasha ended recently at volume 50 something and the complaint 'When is it gonna end?' has been said again and again for a few years now.
Given how long it is, given how unpopular sports manga is in the US, and given how unsuccessful the ippo anime is in the US (in spite of being so awesome), the ippo manga will never, ever be brought to the US. (But who knows? If Ookiku Furikabutte anime does well here, there might be hope for the ippo manga yet.)
I'm about to finish the ippo anime, and certainly want to see more; so I guess I have to resort to the scanlations which seem to be well maintained by some dedicated fans. |
