I consider myself a fan of Ribon, and there have been a few Nakayoshi titles of merit, but even looking at Ciao or any of its related manga makes my head hurt. I wouldn't have considered picking this up before, but I'm definitely going to stay as far away as possible knowing it's Ciao.

May I ask the source of this? From what I could dig up, Ciao had defeated Nakayoshi's #2 position in 1999 (even when Cardcaptor Sakura was still serializing) and topped Ribon in early 2000s, respectively, holding the #1 shōjo manga magazine for the past four (or up to six; seems there are some discrepancies between different sources) years.

Yeah, I thought the initial concept was cute, but the preview of this series in Shojo Beat turned me off actually reading it, because it did not have a very good delivery of said concept.

Mmm, I didn't think it was nearly as bad as the review said, but I also have to say that the whole concept could have been executed a lot better. It's a fluff read for sure and below the bar for most shojo series, but I didn't get into it thinking it was anything spectacular. Maybe worth a purchase at Half-Price or a rental from the library.

Yeah, I read the first chapter of it and found it a waste of my precious minutes. So shallow and predictable. And to be frank I didn't think the lady's artwork was anything to write home about. Especially the character designs. I knew the girl looked like another anime girl. It was Sakura! CLAMP should sue!

...Couldnt help but take offence to the accusation of Ciao stuff being 'derivative' or 'poor' compared to Nakayoshi.
What about Beauty Pop? It's easily better than the majority of Nakayoshi series I've read. Of course there's probably not a great deal else...but recently, neither is there in Nakayoshi. :/

Wow, I think I may be one of the only people in the universe to actually enjoy this manga. I thought it was cute, despite being silly and cliche. Sure it wasn't ground-breaking, or great in any way, but it wasn't a horrible read.


Also, the review makes the High School wedding at the very end sound real. It's was a pretend wedding, as over the top as it was.

Nope! You're not the only one in the universe to actually enjoy it, because I did as well. I'm a sucker for any kind of shojo and I just found it hilarious that she drew "romance" manga and yet, has never been in a relationship herself. I found it amusing to say the least. Definitely not memorable like the review said, but considerably diverting.

The only thing I liked about this manga was that the main character knew her work was cheesy love stories, and knew she could great amount of fans from it. Other than that, I really don't remember much about it because it was a pretty lame manga.
