I thought this had something to do with Weta Workshops and the Evangelion live-action film.... before I read it fully.

What a let down

You'd think that given the massive popularity of Eva in the US, it'd be a no-brainer for ADV/whoever to jump all over this. It's pretty much a guaranteed cash cow for whatever company gets it.

Why then is it taking so long for someone to grab all this money that's just waiting for them? Confused

Maybe it's too expensive to buy and the companies are waiting for the prices to lower in order to make a better profit...
Just my two cents.

I bet Sony will get them eventually. It'd do wonders for their reputation.

TAKE THAT!

Oh, this is good news, and I'm going to be dancing for days. I'll have to make an effort to see this. Scratch that, I WILL see this.

And here I was thinking that I'd never get to see it within my lifetime, or at least within the year. Now, to find the money to get to Auckland......

Hey, seriously, is Sony reading these message boards? Put Eva 1.0 out on blu-ray and I'll go and buy a ps3, too, just to play it ( ps3 as a blu-ray player, not as a game console.).

Well guys, interestingly enough I talked to John Ledford this past Anime Expo and he told me why these movies aren't licensed for a North American release, and the truth may shock you. The fact is these movies are done entirely by Hideaki Anno and his studio and are basically his own projects, and he has own ideas about how they should be released overseas. Specifically Hideaki Anno thinks his movies should be released here in a way where viewers will get to watch it for free.

Hum, actually the Int Film Fest is going to run from 10 July to 26 November, at different locations around New Zealand. So you won't have to travel to Auckland, necessarily.

Heres a link to the website http://www.enzedff.co.nz/

I'm hoping to watch the Evangelion movie down here in Dunedin - just have to convince someone to go with me 'cause Evangelion is waaay too Freudian to watch alone, on a Friday night Laughing

I wouldnt worry about the licence. Its going to be years before the final film is released in Japan, and I would prefer to watch them all back to back anyway. The best thing to do is ignore its existence until 5 or 6 years lol
