This article made me laugh.

"sensual looking women," and close-ups of "women's body parts"

Seriously, the choice of words is hysterical. Laughing

Wow, and I thought the US was too censored! Well, each to their own, I guess. Those are some pretty steep fines, but those are the maximum. I would hope their punishment will be less.

Good luck Global TV .....

Well, bad news for Indonesian OP fans. Not to mention this move isn't conducive to the legal distribution of anime in the region. At least they still have Animax (I think).

@ Big Hed, Animax is a cable TV channel so not everyone can watch it. It's been quite a while since I left Indo, didn't know it gets this bad and even ban One Piece.. heck, they aired Fushigi Yuugi when I was a kid, and nobody said anything back then. Confused

Dunno what crack they were on, but this is ridiculous. I feel sorry for anime fans there.

My Indonesian friend definitely wasn't kidding when she said she felt like she had more freedom in the United States than in Indonesia.

Particularly considering the very Western "cartoony" style of One Piece. Laughing

@jouttex: Yeah, I was aware Animax is cable, but i wasn't sure if the channel was available in Indonesia; glad to hear it's an option for fans there (despite the channel's awful dubs).

Anyway, I can't say I'm surprised to hear about this, given the political climate in Indonesia.

Yeah, probably so does Jack Thompson (even though not involved in anime, but's he watching anime hater and may allied with Al Khan).

I am surprised they did not execute the company executives, put out the eyes of anyone who said they viewed it, and publically ban all anime...

Truly this type of nonsense needs to be removed from the world and a sensible straight path full of freedoms established everywhere...

Well, each culture to it's own. If I'm not mistaken Indonesia is largely a Muslim country. Their ideas about what makes up appropriate modesty are much more strict than ours. As such, yeah I'm sure they would find it offensive for their young ones being exposed to certain things we don't find offensive here.

maybe they can have our 4kids version. I'm sure there is nothing objectionable in that... although their ears might start bleeding....
