Well, I do. I don't care about action if the characters are bland (like almost all characters from new Bones-shows). That movie was horribly boring. (and to clear that up: I actually like action a lot - but only with interesting characters involved) |

| When are they going to solicit this? It's not like it's going to play in Chicago.
They should do what Viz Media is doing. Viz Media got Bleach and Naruto to the masses. Bandai is doing to arthouse rounds which won't reach as many people. |

That's another rule too, but, unless the rules have changed since the days of Spirited Away when I last researched this, there's a time limit as well. To be eligible for next year's (2009) Oscars, the film must had been released in its native country no earlier than Jan 1 two years prior (2007) and screened for at least a week in NYC or LA the year before (Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2008). Tokikake had been released in Japan in 2006, making it past its eligibility. Obviously, the time limit is there to keep the contest among new/recent films --it is an annual contest after all-- (unless it's a lifetime achievement award or something) and so countries could not keep submitting the same film year after year.
