Wait, did I read this right?

Quote:
Lucky Star, the anime project that Kyoto Animation produced after The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, already has volume 1-2 released in North America. The third volume will ship in November. All volumes will have limited editions available with bundled shirts.

Ehhhh?! So there's a 4-month release gap between Volumes 2 and 3?

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time film has run in a limited theatrical release in Los Angeles and New York, and it will go to Boston and Seattle in August. Bandai Entertainment are planning five or six more places after those screenings. The US$49.98 DVD release will include a second disc for extras and an original soundtrack CD on November 4.

I hope I can get a 2-disc set without the CD, but if not, I'll just get the regular edition.

Quote:
The first of the new Honneamise releases, the entire Freedom series, will ship simultaneously in North America and Japan. Famed director Katsuhiro Otomo designed the characters. Iyadomi noted that Kodansha previewed Otomo's Akira film at San Diego Comic-Con exactly 20 years ago in 1988. It will be on Blu-ray Disc in 1080p resolution.

By "it", you mean Freedom, and not Akira, right? Wink

Quote:
The Gunbuster vs. Die Buster Gattai Movie will be released on two separate US$49.98 DVDs for the anime's two halves. There will also be a 3-disc box set for US$99.98.

So it's the same rip-off in installments this time? Rolling Eyes

My thoughts exactly. The new Freedom announcement and word of cheaper releases seemed promising until it got to this part.

Can I get The Girl Who Leapt Through Time without all the extras? Like, one single DVD with the movie on it? I really don't need all that extra stuff Bandai likes to throw into its releases as an excuse to raise the price.

That said, I can't wait until November to buy Gurren Lagann Smile I want the subs, but my fiance would be upset if I bought a giant robot show without his precious dub track.

Oh thank goodness. And I'm sure contessa will second that as well. As soon as I saw that it was fifty bucks I was very disappointed. I wanted to get it, but at $50 for a DVD?? Glad to know that only goes for the SE.

Slightly misleading, since KyoAni did the Kanon remake in the fall of 2006 after doing Haruhi in summer 2006. Lucky Star didn't come along until spring 2007. I know it doesn't matter that much, but "an anime that Kyoto Animation produced..." would be more accurate.

The entire Freedom series will ship simultaneously in Japan (Bandai Visual), North America (Bandai Entertainment), United Kingdom (BEEZ) and France (BEEZ) actually, with Japanese/English/French dub and sub.

Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence film will receive a new dub. The panelists said that it will be Bandai Entertainment's first Blu-ray Disc release, then quickly clarified that it is the company's first announced Blu-ray Disc release.

Didn't Manga produce an English dub with the SAC cast a few years ago for the European and Australian distribution of this film? Is there a reason Bandai just do not license it from Manga? Confused

Haha, the wrath of a loved one causing you to give up. I was gonna buy the subbed version, but, with the the Dub and Sub DVDs starting in November, it will be a good 17 B-Day present. Though I may change my mind if the Dub is horrible, I guess we will find out on Sci Fi tonight.

I don't think there will be French dubs on this simultaneous release. I remember reading it on Anime on DVD.

A dot-anime rep came out and made corrections.
