That's a lame way to do things. Shouldn't base things off the animation company. People can get better/worse.

Now the change of cast is something that is truly upsetting.

Gawd, who drew that Chika on the official site?! Sakuga hōkai on a promotional art?

By the way, according to the official website, the director is Tsuyoshi Nagasawa (長澤 剛). Without Kuwashima, Kadowaki, Ueda, Noto, Chihara... I don't think I'd watch this new series. Rolling Eyes

My thoughts exactly (though not word-for-word). I'm guessing sakuga hōkai refers to a change in art direction. The OAV did a really great job sticking to the manga style while still keeping it manageable, but this new TV series looks like something entirely different (based on the single piece of art, but that's not exactly putting the best foot forward). Where it's going with a different cast, different staff, different art direction, and new stories I'm really thinking this is 5-2 in name only.

Doumu did the first season of Minami-ke, from the same creator of Kyou no Go no Ni, and it got rave reviews. XEBEC is most recently responsible for To-Love-Ru and Kanokon.

Yeah, I think I know a pass when I see one.

It literally means "deteriorating animation." Often happens after first 3-4 episodes of a 13-eps TV series, when the more experienced crew who produced eps 1-2 take a break and hand the animation over to less experienced crew, before the former return for the cliffhanger and grand finale. Also happens in fillers for longer titles.

(In)famous examples:
*Not exacting "deteriorating" for it was awful from the start.
