Thats really amazing, to bad they don't mention anything about the manga (there is lots of chapters for it, I mean volumes)...and Naruto, I'm not surprised that it is mentioned in this topic (it is the most popular, as far as I know)

I love how Gintama can bring money to TV Tokyo, yet the anime has yet to get a R1 licensor, and most likely other lesser(in terms of popularity) Jump shows will be picked up before it too.

No love for One Piece? Does the anime not do as well as the manga? I thought the manga was up there at the top of the charts.

It doesn't fall under TV Tokyo.

One Piece is animated by Toei.

Yu-Gi-Oh! in Guinness for most selling cards!? Puh-lease. It hasn't sold a tenth of what Magic and Pokemon pulled off...

Their publisher Wizards of the Coast itself doesn't claim that. WotC said at the tenth anniversary of Magic: The Gathering that there are "several billion Magic cards in circulation," not hundreds of billions. WotC also said at the fifth anniversary of Pokémon that were "10 billion cards sold globally."

They keep saying how much foreigners love Gintama, but Gintama still isn't even licensed in R1 (looks like Italy has it, though). I think Gintama is incredible and a thousand times more entertaining than Naruto, but from what I've gathered, the fanbase (at least in North America) is quite small (especially compared to Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh).

So the Yu-Gi-Oh card game is in the top, but not the anime? I am curious to know why that is. As for Naruto and Pokemon, I agree with TV Tokyo. Those are two of the most popular anime. Bleach is great too. I am interested in Gintama. I would read the manga, but since it has no R1 release, I don't. I like to read manga in which I'll be able to see the anime.

Well Viz has been publishing the manga, but yeah, the anime is still MIA in North America.

I don't know how accurate Viz' version of Gintama is, but it's hilarious either way. I've got the first three volumes, and it's so funny!

I'm hesitant to buy any more though since the anime will probably be licensed eventually, and I generally prefer owning the anime over the manga (manga takes up more shelf space). Plus, I've been told by quite a few fans that Gintama is somehow even funnier in the anime, so I can't wait. Smile
