Very good look for Funimation AND the U.S. Anime industry!!!
 Looks like all the grim predictions of Anime Armageddon may soon prove to be inaccurate. I guess all those acquisitions proved to be a smart move indeed.

Ani-ragnarok is nigh? I think that's a potentially good way to put it for a few companies...
I dunno, I really have no major qualms with the business decisions they make, their dubbing choices and everything else... Now if they made a deal with Bandai Entertainment or someone else, then they'd be potential for a juggernaut in the industry. Fully acquiring ADV... eh, not so much. |

Couldn't have said it better myself, hon. While I know this isn't the anime industry on the whole, it stills helps to ease some of the worry off my mind. Let's just keep buyin' and hope that's enough to pull our beloved companies outta this temporary rut!

I know! I was worried if a long-running series would survive on DVD-only for a while (hopefully it'll come back to CN soon, that new pirate show they got is a joke), but it's off to a good start. Shame about Bandai though, hang in there guys! (hopefully the dub/sub Gurren Lagann DVDs will give them a boost) I dunno about Funimation going up on Walmart, I think Viz has them beat there. It's Naruto/Bleach/Inuyasha vs. DBZ, and I doubt even the DBZ sales juggernaut can take on all three. |

Huh, I would have thought Bandai would be a bit bigger. I can only imagine how much Funi will increase now that they've got all of the stuff from Geneon and ADV.
Anyway, the numbers only add up to 71.8%. Who fills in the remaining 28.2%? The last remnants of Geneon? It seems like a lot to be filled by the handful of smaller companies. Is there someone I'm forgetting? |

I only have good words for funimation and how they've helped increase the anime sales in the United States and hurray for Kaze no Stigma! Way to go Funimation!
 I'm looking forward to your releases of Ghost Hunt and Claymore and many more.  Oh what a good year we have ahead of us.

I can imagine why Funimation would rank so high in sales, but I can only see it going higher when they start putting out all those titles they picked up from Geneon and ADV.

First off I am not a doom and gloomer, and I don't think the sky is falling. But I think people are confusing market share with overall market health. 30,000 out of a 100,000 sales, and 30 out of 100 sales both produce the same market share. Either way it is really good news for FUNimation, but that's all. |

I wonder how that MB figure relates historically. Too bad it would take too long to go through all the individual titles and figure out if the low share is based more on the titles or the sub-only decision.

Very good news indeed. I expect those numbers to go way up with all those thinpacks coming out of former Geneon titles. I know I have over $200 worth of preorders just for this month (Shana, Fate Stay Night, Higurashi, ect) They may likely be the savior of anime in the US.
I just saw Shuffle! vol 6 and they produce OUTSTANDING dubs. The acting was some of the best I've seen in an anime dub. I really hope they dub Nanoha and the rest of Geneon's accusitions with the same quality. It hurts my wallet but I am a very happy customer right now. (: |

I am surprised FMP:TSR did not score higher. I was also surprised at its tv-pg rating, considering there is some pretty graphic killing in it. All in all a, good showing by funi, indeed. I wonder how they will do for the last half of 08.
