Serious episodes, though good, break the overall tone.

Although I agree with this overall statement, I don't think I would put it in the negative comments. I guess since I enjoied the break in pace.

I wrote this in the middle of the woods.

I still need to get this. I skipped AA and went straight to X since I was interested in Chitose and how she was going to be used.

That was me stretching for something to put down as a negative, as I didn't find anything inherently bad about it.

Too bad X is only 1/3 dubbed. Way to go Bandai.

The last disk does include the bonus half-episode “An Oyster Fried Very Shameful” but not, apparently, the special unaired episode “Fried Chicken.”

The special episode "Fried Chicken" is part of the Galaxy Angel A Complete Collection.

I think Galaxy Angel is almost superb as a comedy, which is the very reason why I loved the serious episodes most of all. In these moments we take a break from the zany, silly humor and get to watch these archetypal characters get a few moments of surprising depth (without going overboard, of course). It's those episodes that I tend to rewatch in my spare time. It makes viewers feel like they really could care about the characters, if the creators really did create a series storyline, which they only do for the manga. The last episode came close enough, and it actually surprised and touched me (it would've been the perfect wrapup for the series's entirety). Once those kinds of episodes are over, we can get back on track with the comedy.

From everything I read, the Galaxy Angel X series has no dub (beyond the 1/3 ZeetherKID77 mentioned), which is a real shame, because even I think the dub cast excelled with their comedy performance. Regardless, I'll still get it, because I'm a fan of this series, and can't wait to laugh more and be surprised by the occasional depth episodes.

I'm still just starting AA but until now the episode with Forte's military past (GAZ, or GAA?) is one of my favorites. I got a bit bogged down with the last couple GA A episodes and am taking a small break before tackling AA, S, and X which are sadly collecting dust.

Ah yes, that is one of my favorite episodes as well. Completely surprising how effective that was. I believe it was one of the bonus episodes on Z.
