The Prince of Afterschool?

REALLY?

Clearly, the influence of the musical has been way too great.

If everyone starts singing and dancing and playing tennis with a spotlight, I will laugh. If all the characters are based on the actors in the myu, I will cry.

It didn't say in the article that it was going to be based on the musical though - it only said that it will include feature articles about the musical, as well as free tickets. I assume that the "collaboration" only meant that the tribute manga will help advertise the musical, and the musical will help advertise the tribute manga. I could be wrong though (let's hope not Anime smile + sweatdrop).

Most of the people in the Prince of Tennis community at Livejournal said the same things when I linked to the original news article at Anime News Network last month. I'm excited either way because I love the manga and the musicals more than the anime, but it's silly to assume that just because it's a joint-project that the new manga is going to attempt to panel-and-ink the musicals. I agree that this is probably to advertise the newer musicals, because what with the manga's completion and the anime coming to a close, it's akin to trying to get folks to see the Harry Potter movies without anymore books being released that same summer.

I'm imagining a mini-sequel or an omake chapter more than anything else. Maybe if we're lucky it will be a much better aftermath than what we got with the original ending, as I'd like to know what happened to the other characters besides the Seigaku boys.

I'd love to see what happened to the other characters too! Most of my favorites are actually players from the other schools (like Sengoku Kiyosumi and Kirihara).
