is that what they're calling it now, Evolution? how interesting they would have a Jpop opening. seems weird that they're appealing more to Otaku than a more casual audience.

Last I heard, the title being "DragonBall: Evolution" hadn't been confirmed yet. The Japanese article does refer to it as such, but I wonder if they jumped the gun or something.

I, for one, am glad to hear this news.

So no matter how awful this movie may be, we'll probably at least get a nice single out of it. Yay!

And casual American anime fans are now wondering "Who the hell is she?!" in the same way casual Final Fantasy fans didn't care about L'Arc being in Spirits Within. Rolling Eyes

The newspaper adds that Wong is a big Hamasaki fan who had heard all of her songs,

Total bs. He probably just asked for whoever was the most popular artist in Japan, and then hired her on spot. If he liked her music, then that would imply he had any understanding of the appeal of Japanese pop culture in general; and therefore, he would've done a good job on DB.

That's one minute and 48 seconds too many. Laughing

It only evolved from a bad idea into (very likely) a bad movie.

Whoop-de-do.

Ayumi Hamasaki is doing the theme song. This, in NO way, whatsoever, makes this s***stain of a film any more tolerable.

Although I hope she likes associating herself with monumental failure.

Because this will haunt her, as it will haunt the careers of everyone associated with it.

Although I feel the saddest for James Marsters.

Not that he really has a great career to ruin or anything, but out of all of the other no-talent hacks involed in this film, he's the one that might have possibly gotten some kind of decent role someday.

But thanks to this film, you can say goodbye to him showing his face in the industry after this turd of a film rolls out like a three-week-old baloney-wagon covered in dried dog piss.

That, by the way, is the actual description of the smell wafting from the vapor trails of this movie's pre-release.

When the movie is officially released, that'll be like staying downwind, by comparison.

Speaking of which, i'm thinking of renting out a small cave or a rock to hide under for a few years around next March so I can hopefully avoid all of the fallout from this disaster in the mainstream media.

Who'se with me? Razz

Out of curiosity, have any of you actually seen the theatrical trailer? It was just streamed recently. Take a look:

Now you can say whatever you think.

Ayumi Hamasaki is a wonderful singer. I even own her complete all singles 3 cd set. Thanks for the DB evolution trailer link, the actors and actresses look pretty good.

pft, evolution Rolling Eyes

how's it everytime new information is released for the dragoball movie it always goes from bad to worse? (ya know more worse than before, but how low can they really go? seems their pushing it...).
As far as I'm concerned they might as well strip the name dragonball from the title, then we can call it what it really is: a bad idea that has 'evolved' into an even worse movie.
Well, I hope Ayumi Hamasaki's single turns out good Confused

Karma Rocket: I still hope Stephen Chow can rebound with Green Hornet.

Da Games: You know, I was almost into it until they got to the "magic bike" and the fight scenes. I'm already pissed that they changed the origins of the dragonballs. Why the hell can't Bulma just throw a capsule and be done with it? And it looks like a jumble of a bunch of different movies I've already seen before. It's like LXG over again.

Now you can say whatever you think.

I've tried to remain as positive as I can for this movie, I really have. But that trailer revealed quite a few disappointments to me. "Seven mystics banded together to create the Dragonballs"? So that means they decided to throw the whole concept of Kami away for this movie. "We have to find the Dragonballs before the eclipse!" This makes it sound like there is some kind of supernatural disaster going on. Bulma has black hair. Master Roshi has a full head of hair, and yet no beard. The list goes on...

I don't think it's fair to call this movie an adaptation of Dragonball - it's more of a crazy fanfic set in an alternate universe.

Isn't that what an adaptation is?
