I guess the dubbing ran behind. They've only had two weeks without a new episode since the show premiered I believe (the week of the fans' choice night and the week they replayed the first episode of R2 after dragging the show back from the graveyard slot). Maybe they should have waited a month or two to start R2 after the first season ended, but hindsight is 20/20.

Agreed, as the article says, "The 6th episode ran last weekend, but Bandai Entertainment will not deliver the next new episode until January 10." There has been news as of late that Bandai has been doing a little temporary cutting back recently in some areas. It's possible that they just haven't been able to keep up the rigorous schedule that they offered AS. This certainly doesn't sound like something AS had planned for, they like to run anime continuously as much as possible and rarely do "best of" episodes mid run, especially short term ones.

I hope Kurokami doesn't follow suit.

Considering how close the US broadcast is running on the heels of the Japanese premieres, I kind of expected some sort of delay at some point. At least we'll be getting the final three episodes of the first season as a slot-filler.

The Japanese do this all the time, especially when they're running late on schedule. They patch together some highlights and call it a recap. Or put together some fight scenes and call it the Best VS. Or skip that broadcast altogether and call it a DVD exclusive. Laughing

Well I'll take a positive look at this. A repeat is better than them pulling the show off the air 'til its ready like they did with Bleach last year.

I don't remember that ever happening with Bleach. Inuyasha, yes, but not Bleach.

Anyway, this news is really making me rage! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, RIGHT NOW!

(To any industry insiders reading this: How long does it take to dub one episode of any given anime series anyway?)

...It happened with Bleach, it's why I took a break from it and ultimately, got sick of it.

I don't care though about this announcement, it's not surprising in the least. The break is pretty much necessary if I had to guess.

I'm just waiting to start watching until the halfway point, following the attack on a certain place and a certain person switching sides.

...Trying to avoid spoilers and whatnot.

Very true, it was done with Bleach as well and Inuyasha, and the initial showing of Ghost in the Shell.
This is typical of Adult Swim though, although this time we see that Bandai is behind it. And what kind of crap is that anyway???
They want people to rely solely on them (and other licensers) yet they pull stuff like this?
It makes me furious.
These folks really care very little for fans.

this is unfortunate since this is the moment where many people run to the aid of fansubs in desperation, thus hyrting the company which is likely suffering from that very problem.

...how is this "not caring for fans"? The production team at Bandai does not physically have these upcoming episodes ready yet, and therefore they are unable to deliver them before January. It's a staggeringly simple concept. And the whole reason they need more time in the first place is because the dub is airing within the span of only a few months after the Japanese premieres, a fact for which we should all be grateful in the first place. If you don't have the patience to wait a few weeks in order to give them that time, then I truly pity you.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. But they could do better. After all, the Japanese managed to get an episode out a week, and that includes animation and the voice track. Considering how well the Seiyuu performed for this show (much much better than the English dub I can tell you), you would think that the dubbing process would easily fit inside a week (per episode).

The fact that they have fallen behind suggests that they aren't as fast as the Japanese. That's either because the dubbing process isn't as streamlined as it could and should be, or that the dubbing staff aren't as good as their Japanese counterparts.

Though I'm pleased that the episodes are airing so soon after the Japanese run, you must realise that they can be aired even sooner. Of course, air them too soon and the lawyers will have to be dragged in. But don't tell me that it isn't possible from a technical point of view.

Wow. Code Geass just can't get a break, can it? Regardless of whose fault it is, there have been way too many scheduling issues with this series in the US. :/

Episode 7 is such an awesome episode too. Sadness. :<

Okay seriously, there is no need to be rude.
1. I've already watched the series, so I'm simply waiting to be able to purchase everything
2. The last thing I need....is your pity. Save it.

My opinion is (and I am allowed to give this without being rude to fellow posters) that this action on their part is poor. They could do a much better job, they have had the time. It's great that the dub is airing shortly after the original was run, but it only remains great if they can deliver properly.
It was their decision to jump ahead and provide the series so quickly. As a company, they could/should have made sure they had the goods to deliver before starting to deliver it.
If you really want to meet the demands/expectations of the people who "you wish to depend on you" then you cannot be so lackadaisical about
what you are doing.

As dtm42 has pointed out, in Japan they had more work to do on the project yet they executed it exceptionally well and timely. They did well, they care about their products and those who view them (the fans).
