Cool, hopefully it comes to a release sometime soon. Though, if bluray never takes off like DVDs did, I will have wasted money.

I'm gonna have to agree. Putting Beetrain's piss poor attempt at adapting tsubasa story-wise aside, the art and animation was down right terrible more than half the time throughout the series. Honestly if it was crappy to look at in low definition will it look any better in HD? It's like making a turd look shiny, you can make it sparkle all you want but it'll never change the fact it's a turd.

If funi had licensed the tokyo revelations ova's it'd be a different story. Those are actually worth being distributed on BD, but as it stands releasing the tv series on BD just seems like a waste of money.

one thing to point out, is like when vis started to do the 13~ episode naruto packs, funi might just been setting a standard in how anime series will be done on Blu-ray, not just OAVs and Movies like it has been so far.

I want Bandai to do Gundam 00 BD it is to f-ing pretty to be trapped on DVD. Same goes if Macross F ever gets licensed.

Well there is Samurai 7 which came before.

As far as this news it is a Blur-ray I might actually get since I already don't own it. I would like to have Samurai 7 on Blu-ray, but I already own all of the limited editions, so I am not buying it again. I am kind of scared of all the negative stuff about Tsubasa in this thread, I will have to go and read some reviews before I purchase. I enjoy reading the manga, but I am only on like the 10th volume or so. Like xxxHOLiC better, but both are pretty good.

Gundam 00 would be sweet, but what I'd really like to see on Blu-ray would be Code Geass!

^this, you can actually SEE stuff in the background on the DVD/Blu-ray releases considering season 1 wasn't aired in HD in Japan.

The first and second Tsubasa anime were trash. It doesn't deserve Blu-ray discs, nor is it worth buying despite being a work from CLAMP. Now the Tokyo Revelation OVA may be worth it.

Maybe with R2, but R1 i don't think was animated in HD from the get go, unlike G-00 where the show was made to be HD.........

Shigurui: Death Frenzy in Blu-ray! Man, that's gonna rock. Especially from a sound perspective, as the music in that show is fantastic. Thank you, FUNi!

I think if anything I'll buy Tsubasa on Blu-ray. I did like the series (though not as much as the manga) but this could be a "test the water" thing with Blu-ray with Funimation on series and I want to support anime blu-ray to North America. The first blu-ray anime DVD I'm still getting is Fullmetal Alchemist movie. Hopefully if this does well then maybe we will see more series on blu-ray that we care about.

Of course, this is just saying. I don't know any other series Funimation is bring on blu-ray that is as long as Tsubasa so I could be wrong in my posting.

I might get FMA on blu-ray, but only if it doesn't look like all they did was up convert it. I already have the movie on DVD, so I will only get it again if it is truly worth it.

I just remembered FUNi hasn't given any consideration to an Air TV box set yet... maybe they're waiting for the Blu-Ray light? Cool

Well, considering they're only releasing the first season on BD, and as others have said, they're releasing Samurai 7 on BD as well, which comes out in a couple weeks actually, they're both the same length, 25 or 26 eps. So it'll be interesting to see how many discs they use for each one.

The sucky thing is that I have all but vol.4 of Samurai 7 in Limited Editions, and I can't seem to find the last one anywhere anymore... and I already bought 3 different versions of the FMA movie to get all the different extras that came bundled with it. I'll have to netflix the BD version to see if it really does warrant a rebuy...

Samurai 7 is actually out in a few months (February 24). It's kept getting delayed for a while now. The official reason is that some commentaries were being added.

The S7 set looks like it's going to be 3 discs.

FUNi's been putting out Blu-ray for a while now with DBZ. Of course, DBZ will sell no matter on what format it's on.
