God I hate CR. For me, it's only fansubs and DVDs. Download to own is complete BS and people who do it are idiots.

I remember seeing this a few months ago, can't really imagine Crunchy Roll making a big revenue from this series though.

Could you enlighten us with an explanation? What makes DVDs better than downloading?

No offense to anyone. I guess in your perspective I am an idiot for DTO when it is supporting the creators unlike those who download from BTs. Sometimes the anime will never see a R1 release. I also buys dvds.

Oh god, I sure hope CR doesn't become another Funimation and start forcing other sites to take down series. I liked the old CR better.

CrunchyRoll rules!

They even have legal fansubs there too! And you can do the fansubs interactively right on their website, with the raws provided right from the content providers! Cant beat that!

CrunchyRoll is the site of the future for Anime!

Great question, and I can't speak for walw6pK4Alo's opinion, but I can speculate that you get at least a few extras with a DVD, such as on-disc extras, language (sub/dub), and cover box art. Right now, I believe the video quality of the future CR releases is questionable. However, the prices of this downloadable content will be low priced, and CR is hoping that a high volume of customers will buy in order to generate profit.

We can discuss how CR's business model is to address the immediate "need" of customers after an episode has aired in Japan, but that's not the point of your question nor that of walw6pK4Alo's statement.

Some of us acctually do like having physical media...it may be the old fashioned way but I still prefer physical media over a .avi. Although CR does give good options in case of deletion, etc but that was for Druaga, I can't say for other series.

For the record, Crunchyroll having Slam Dunk and Fist of the North Star is good in my book considering how badly I wanted to watch both series. Now, if Toei could put up Kinnikuman...

CR is nothing but a bunch of profiters and pirates. I'll stick to buying DVD's. Shinji feels like Tom of Myspace, but at least Tom has a picture of him.

They want to profit off of animes, leave that to the company's in charge of the anime. I bet Shinji is just some basement-dwelling ravaged otaku. Where's MediaFactory when you need them?

Crunchyroll's 720p stream is actually pretty darn good, all things considered.

I think I'm actually going to pay for their subscription (for Naruto, really).

Protop: it's not 720p. Even YouTube's "HD" isn't 720p. I'm sure it's close, but no cigar.

I notice peoples habit of quoting/responding to negative post's. What about the user's who express delight in news like this? I'm guessing they're comments don't really posses flame war potential. As far as preferring DVD's over DTO, It may be just a personal preference, such as liking DVD extras and having that physical content(i.e. the package, omake etc). Crunchyroll does have extremely high quality selections(gotta love that new 720p, it's like HD TV), but i don't see this as a definite alternative to DVD. So, how bout' we all just, well, LIGHTEN UP???!!!

Can you elaborate?
