Hopefully they'll be making a completely new film with no re-used footage from the show.

You took the words right out of my mouth. New film, please. I'm so tired of rehashed plots that cram an entire 20-some (or more) episode series into a feature-length movie. I've yet to see a good one. -_-

Well, the article refers to it as a "remake," so assuming that isn't a mistake, it will be the same basic plot. Hopefully it would be a "DYRL?" type remake, not a "Macross Plus: Movie Edition" type remake.

Shouldn't that be Yoshiki Fukuyama?

I'd think they'd almost have to go the DYRL route. Squishing 4 40-minute OVAs into a movie longer than their total running time (without redundant OP/ED sequences and credits) works, cutting up 26 30-minute episodes doesn't.

Those Ranka plushies should have red iris. All Ranka cosplayers I've met wear red contacts.

Yeah, but don't you love the unintended Coraline angle?

Nice that they do it to mark the exact month, if not the exact day (Sat. Feb. 7th).

I hope they tweak the characters a bit in the film, and better balance the triangle. Hopefully he doesn't mess with the triangle's conclusion, as it worked perfectly given its development. If he does, the new animation better develop it enough to justify it.

Plus' movie was much better than the OAV, as it better balanced everything and greatly improved key scenes. This is unsurprising as the movie version was planned first. I seriously doubt we'll get a DYRL like take so soon after the airing over the series. Even DYRL had over a year after the original finished, and the budget difference mattered more then than now.

Frontier has a lot of room for streamlining, and a lot that could be improved, so it's anyones' guess.

DYRL was only about a year exactly after Macross finished airing, and they might have had this one planned for a longer time, who knows.

Well I was thinking the same thing as well, but I would see continuation of the series in the next one, well never know?
