^this. There anime adaptations are often horrid because whoever adapts them are idiots, but their manga have always been fantastic. |

Outside of Rayearth, I happened to really like the late 1990s-early 2000s period of their anime when Madhouse was doing all their stuff. I will forever regret the fact that I was in high school, and totally broke when Card Captor Sakura was released on DVD because now it's impossible to own. But again, that period with Angelic Layer, and Chobits (even that foolish attempt of a tv series for X) are in my opinion rather great anime even with the changes they made from the original manga. It was when they went AWAY from Madhouse I started to really hate the adaptions. It broke my fangirl heart when XXXholic was announced for a TV series and they didn't get it. Tsubasa... I can't even watch a couple of minutes before my eyes want to bleed. |

The only anime adaptation of their stuff I've really liked is CCS. Their manga is layered/has so many levels (not necessarily complex) that anime, with the mindset of simplifying everything whenever possible (yes, there are exceptions) just can't do them justice. CCS probably managed to slip by me also on the fact that it was Cardcaptors that really pulled me into anime & then manga & it was so wonderful watching the uncut CCS after seeing Cardcaptors, I didn't really mind any changes made in the CCS anime from the manga.
I haven't seen XXXholic or Tsubasa yet (waiting for a cheap box since I'm always disappointed in the anime) At least the X movie is pretty to watch even if the story is horribly condensed. Tokyo Babylon wasn't too bad other than it being the excerpt from the manga sort of anime rather than really being stand alone. Clamp School was decent, though it didn't deliver half the in-jokes of the Clamp School/Duklyon/Mask mangas. But they are wicked evil female manga-kas who love to torture bishies. They do it so well. I really do love their stuff too much to ever quit reading them. |

I will be getting these. I am a little apprehensive Dark Horse is releasing them. I suppose I shouldn't worry, since these will likely sell well, but still.

So I take it by judging from the release date that Tsubasa and xxxholic are taking a bit longer to finish up then they originally intended?
Honestly, I would rather have CLAMP delay mangettes so that they finish X/1999 (last chapter was released roughly 6 years ago, to my knowledge), but I'm beginning to doubt that we ever will see an end to it  .

The only thing that keeps me going in terms of X is the thought of how gorgeous the art will be because of the years of drawing experience they have accumulated since putting it on hiatus. I have full confidence that when they do get back to it, it'll be a fangirl orgasm of bliss! If not I shall wallow for months in a dark cloud of depression! Or not... I'll more than likely be beyond ecstatic that a new chapter is in existence. CLAMP has some very high expectations I'm wondering if they can meet. I personally think they dropped X because they had no idea what to do next, and we all were expecting so much. |

what no one mentioned/liked the miyuki-chan anime. or did you guys even knew it was animated? lol the way adv is re-releasing everything they have, im kindoff suprised they haven't touched miyuki-chan.
. anyway i will be picking this up for sure. |

o_O I'm fairly sure that's a mistake, I heard that it would be August 2009 since TRC and Holic should be ending this summer. I would hate to wait even longer for another CLAMP story... |

Didn't really mention it because it wasn't madhouse from what I can recall. All the random CLAMP things of the mid-90s varied in quality for me. I lump it with the CLAMP Campus Detectives, both of which I love. I owned Miyuki-chan on DVD (I'm an Alice in wonderland nut, so CLAMP + Alice = Must Have) and I had this weird thing in middle school where I'd make everyone watch it. It eventually disappeared so either one of my friends intervened, or someone stole it. And I always wondered where people got the idea to insinuate I was a lesbian... So they actually have set an end date for Tsubasa? Glad to hear if they have, but not so glad to hear about XXXholic ending if it's true. We need someone over here to release the CLAMP in wonderland random shorts, along with the CLOVER music video that aired before one of the CCS movies. So much CLAMP to collect, yet so little available over here... |
