I kind of disagree about the dub songs. I thought they sounded pretty damn good. Certainly on par with the obscenely auto-tuned Japanese versions anyway.

I loved Sabat as the narrator. He was downright hilarious.
I enjoyed the opening songs a bit better than the japanese ones- they sounded better. I would have liked to have the references pointed out. All in all, a good job on the voice acting. |

That was classic, one of my favorite scenes in this series. 
Like the review for the 1st part, there's no mention of the commentary track (ep19). Was it missed due to not being in the extras menu? Oh well, this track was pretty nonsensical anyways, the one for ep 12 was much more meaningful... |

Part two is a must buy if you like Negima I think
There is a lot of added jokes, which I don't understand why there was no say about that? There was the all by my self song in ep 19, along with the ADD joke, the DBZ joke in ep 16 or so. Lots more jokes to, all added in with the dub. All the songs where wonderful, the staff thing for the extras was for the Dummy Force theme song. |

Good to know that the English dub is high-quality. Not because I hold any particular love for this series (or for the previous Negima anime), but because I know they'll do it justice when and if Funimation licenses Ala Alba and Another World (i.e. the GOOD Negima adaptations).
Seriously, are there any other fans of the manga that found this completely unwatchable? The visuals were great, yeah, and I could've dealt with them dropping Akamatsu's story (AGAIN!) if the one they replaced it with was any good. But it wasn't. At least, I'm pretty sure it wasn't, but I can't say for sure because I stopped watching in disgust and just went to Wikipedia to look at the episode summaries as soon as they introduced the two vaguely animal-like characters who I refer to as Scrappy-Doo Green and Scrappy-Doo White. Any thoughts of forgiving that were nullified when I skipped ahead a few episodes and saw the scene with Chao fighting the mecha-chupacabra. "Oh, how the mighty have fallen" was the phrase that came to mind. Okay, okay, </rant>. Four more months until Another World gets released Japan-side...then probably another year (at least!) until it's licensed...argh. |

Having watched the first series, and this one, not having read the manga....
This one was a much more enjoyable experience. The first series went off the premise that about only every 4th episode, and the final arc had to be good. And when it decided to be good, it was excellent. You probably know the episodes I am talking about. This series top to bottom was enjoyable though it probably has no relation to anthing. I loved the attention that girls rarely mentioned in the first series got. The dub was great, though I would have like to hear unique English dubs of the 4? different Japanese spoken word openers instead of just the one we got. Count me as one fascinated by the opener and what it represented. One of the Japanese spoken word openers seem to be an mishmash of famous lines from other animes, I loved it. Pani Poni Dash is one of my favorite comedies, so my enjoyment of this is understandable. Once the manga is settled, I would not mind seeing a faithful adaptation, but this was well worth the money I paid. |

I talked to two of the english dub's voice actors, one of which was the ADR person for the first Negima! anime They had no news of White wing being brought over any time soon. They did say they would be happy to voice in new negima anime when Funimation does get around to getting the rights though |

Yes, there are plenty of manga fans who loathe this adaptation, and the story is a valid, and perhaps the largest, complaint. I love the series, but will readily admit the plot is pathetically weak. The quirkiness of the show makes up for this to me. |

This series made me laugh, and the highly stylised visuals, with the odd camera angles and such got me hooked. But yes, this is vastly different in tone to the manga. Whether that's a bad thing is really down to the individual though.
It's a damn sight better than the live-action series, that's for sure!

Sure it's ok after a few epsiodes,but the narrator for both versions are downright awful,which where i admit the english narrator is the worst.Having that grunt-brooklyn's voice that made Chirstopher R. Sabat famous as picollo and popular as Zorro in their version of One Piece as an over the top-high octane narrator DO NOT FIT WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!. If it was me,i wouln't have included an english voice over for the narrator spot. Luckily they brought in everyone from the first series back for this season,which in my view is much better than this one though the OP for the 2nd is much high octane and popular than the first. AS for the visuals,obiviously this is better than XEBEC's version,and both are far superior than that bad live action and the 2nd seaon visuals look more like the manga. Also sure the storylines are much different,but they are definately interesting enough that should please some manga fans. Overall it's a decent series though i would recomend the first.However both definately made me laughed out loud.Probably cause i'm a fan of harem and over the top fanservice. Susprisingly there's small fanservice in the 2nd season,BUT was out in spades and ecchi like on the Natsu (Summer) and Haru (Spring) OVA,which i recomend for any fan of the manga since natsu is fanservice heaven that made the manga funny and the haru epsiode covers the ending of Volume 7 storywise |

The OVAs where great, and covered manga and was the last thing to cover manga for over two years.
I loved the narrator, I thought the dub of it was better then the japanese, but then again I thought he did a great job for the script writing Jamie Marchi did. She wrote a fantastic script for the 2nd anime I think. The opening was good, I wish they would have used Negi's speaking lines instead of Eva's. Then again thats just me and it was nice for them to dub over the opening in ep 19. Also, why dub over Love Sensation in the new anime when it was in the OVA not dubbed? |

I watched an episode of this series just to see the difference between the two for myself and I have to say, I'm a bit impressed.
The fight scene between Eve and Negi was pretty nice to watch, and there was definitely an improvement in the magic spells used. It was odd to see Asuna's eyes matching color. Didn't expect that, and not really sure what to take from it. I had figured there was a meaning between the two colors on the first series, but didn't delve to figure it out (I don't read manga). I'll be keeping my eyes out for this series when the price drops. It'll be weird having two "Negima" box sets sitting on the shelf, but I can get over it. 
What's up with the pan drops? Is this to represent a "D'oh!" moment? I've seen it in other series, but the timing seems to be off, so I'm at a loss on what the purpose is to represent. |
