I just can't put my finger on where I've seen the heroine before... Pokémon, perhaps?

The girl looks sort of Haruhi to me, but that could just be the Key = Kyoto Animation = Haruhi Suzumiya in my brain speaking. Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to seeing what studio is going to be producing this project. I'd be kind of interested to see a Key work done somewhere other than KyoAni or Toei.

I also hope that Jun Maeda does some writing or something for the series, because he's cool.

Straying away from the KyoAni fold has had mixed results for Key. And why is Kanon not mentioned in the promo?

I've just noticed that one of the characters appears to be holding a pistol. Could Key perhaps be charting new territory as regards their subject matter?

Aside from Toei who they worked with while KyoAni was still doing in between animation work for other studios who have Key strayed with? Also if it's one of A-1 Pictures, Bones or I.G (most likely considering past Aniplex productions) I doubt you have much to worry about.

So far just Toei.

Why mess up with a good relationship (with KyoAni)?

They already had an existing relationship with Toei... And why mess up a good relationship? Maybe they want an anime of Angel Beats out sometime this decade and not 2015  If anything it would be nice of KyoAni to focus more on light novels like Haruhi and Full Metal Panic (not to mention this could use a sequel sometime this decade) instead of doing more Key stuff. KyoAni really should've done Spice and Wolf and Bungaku Shoujo... at least Bungaku went to I.G. Speaking of Key I'm sure we'll see Little Busters sometime next year as well, KyoAni already expressed interest in animating it and they haven't got anything on their plate after Haruhi 2.

Kanon's not mentioned because Maeda's not the main writer for Kanon. If they put Kanon in there they should as well put Sola.

Who's to say that this won't be good? According to a translated interview of Dengeki G from this post:
animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/templates/subSilver/images/lang_english/icon_quote.gif

Jun Maeda will be the planner/writer of the story plus Yutaka Yamamoto will be directing who recently did Kannagi with A-1 Pictures and while at KyoAni he directed a couple episodes of Air, Kannon and Haruhi. So he's already work with Jun Maeda on two series.

Quote:
Summary of Interview:
* Around the time when work on Little Busters! was finished, Jun Maeda was approached by Aniplex's Toba(?) who said that he wanted to work together. The official presentation was in October of 2007.
* "The story takes place in the afterlife." "The main characters are all dead persons." "Battles are a highlight [of this series]."
* The main characters have all led unreasonable lives previously, and belong to the SSS (Shinda Sekai Sensen, Dead World Battlefront), which battles angels(Angel?) in order to rebel against God, who had bestowed them such a fate. Their leader is Yurippe.
* The SSS members use guns and the angels use supernatural forces in battles that unfurl.
* The main characters have led unreasonable lives and then died, and thus are rebelling against God. The story of their rebellion against God is intended to hopefully convey a feeling of "life is wonderful, and even though it is unreasonable at times, it is still precious."
* Na-Ga was chosen by Maeda at the beginning of 2008.
* Yurippe's design is supposed to be that of a girl with "a demanding(?) personality, an air of leadership and long hair."
* Maeda: "Since my current favorite heroine is Persona 4's Yukiko Amagi, heroines obviously should have hairbands!"
* About 30 or so characters (including minor characters) have been designed.
* In the SSS, in addition to Yurippe, there's a Decoy Squad and a Tsurikichi.
* The Decoy Squad "Girls Dead Monster" (GalDeMo for short) would put on a sudden live event to grab everyone's attention and Yurippe and the main squad would carry on their battle plans. A(?) tsurikichi is a professional at baiting.
* Na-Ga: "I've completed the designs, so right now I'm just waiting to see if there's more work to be done."
* Maeda: "I've finished the general structure of the story and the plot for all the episodes."
* Opening and Ending Themes are currently in production. If possible, Maeda(?) would like to have a hand in the composition of all the vocal songs. GalDeMo song(s) are also slated.

Staff:
Planning: Jun Maeda
Director: Yutaka Yamamoto (Ordet)
Series Composition: Jun Maeda
Character Design: Na-Ga
Lead Animation Director: Satoshi Kadowaki
Prop Design: Keiko Nakaji
Color Setup: Kazuko Nakajima (?)
Art Director: Atsushi Morikawa
Art Setup: Emi Kesamaru (?)
Cinematographer: Takeshi Hirooka
Editing: Kentarou Tsubane (?)
Music: Jun Maeda, Shinji Orito
Sound Director: Hiromi Kikuta
Production Assistance: Ordet
Animation Production: A-1 Pictures
Production: Aniplex

With talented people working on this series it has a good chance on being good who cares that KyoAni isn't involve so shut up about them it's just making you look like one of those KyoAni fanboys that views them as gods of anime lol. Oh wait but this is messing up key's and KyoAni good reletionship oh noes! Rolling Eyes

Sounds pretty interesting to me! The logo and such makes me hope for some yuri undertones too, or even something more overt. I won't hold my breath, though. xD

So, the main character - well, one of them, Yuri - looks like Suzumiya Haruhi and there's an organization called SSS..

Just saying...

(I will at least check the show out, mind you.)
