^its funny though, you do realize unless you are a super successful artist in the range of Kishmoto and the like, the majority of the money made off of your works is distributed between the Japanese publishing company and the US distributors - i mean most manga artist and creators are not uber rich

so trust me the ones pushing for this the most are the companies, im not saying the artist are as well, but its not like the will ultimately make that much more

News that we hear like have the opposite effect, as always.
The tighter it gets, the more persistent these pirates go.

It's a matter of race between them and who will surrender in the end.

But if their ISPs start blocking persistant offenders from the internet, how many ISPs does Japan have before offenders are essentually banned from all of them if they won't stop?

Neither are most japanese publishers. The nature of publishing -- high overheads amortised over average sales figures that are Pretty Low -- means it's never going to be a highly-profitable business.

My,how American of them.

Search engines are illegal now? eh.Until they do away with say "Google",you can find anything,anywhere,anytime online.Depending on if you use it that way.

Scratch that,(I just read the other source for this article) search engines are illegal as of now,but won't be after this bill is passed.Brilliant.

Like the US "wild wild west" of the 19th Century, that was like the internet is today, it was eventually tamed and regulated under the rule of law, and with this move, and others like it, we are witnessing the same thing happening with the internet. As challenging as that may be now, it has to be tamed if the internet is to be the "new way" of business success, and I don't mean for just anime. The times they are a changing. Wink
