Looks like a pretty solid main cast. I haven't heard a lot of Palencia's work, but she seems to be getting a lot of it, so that lends to her case. I like Tatum's work though.

Also glad (and not surprised) they'll be just doing a series set instead of individual DVDs. It's not going to be a big hit, so this will save money for everybody.

A title many would call niche, dubbed, and released as a box set. FUNi wins my money, but don't make me import it. Wink

Hmm. I might have to try watching this again, since I found it to be hard that economics could be even possibly interesting even with wolf girls added to the mix, but I didn't know it was only 13 episodes, so I think I'll be able to get through that little, I think I stopped/lost interest around ep. 5, but it might just not be for me.

...

...

"Holo."

*facepalm*

Funi, Funi, Funi. Oh well. Regardless, this is a day 1 purchase for me. A slower, more mundane series that's getting a full release AND a dub? A good dub, that that, judging from the cast?

Aces job, Funi. Seriously. I <3 you guys. xD

The appeal of the show is more in the banter between Horo (Holo...) and Lawrence than in the economics or even plot Razz. This is much more a conversation driven show than one based around the occurrences and events. That's not to say they don't manage to have some exciting events or that there isn't a lot of interesting things that you learn while you watch about the world they've set up. All this adds to the depth of the background of the world in which they live. But ultimately you are going to like this show or not based on how much you like the interaction between Horo and Lawrence.

This show is really going to be a good challenge for Funimation's writers and staff in addition to the VAs needing to be able to play off each other.

I think it'll be interesting. I looked at the cast and fortunately or unfortunately it's not one where I've seen a lot of roles by the 2 leads. So I'm not sure how well they will do. I'm definitely interested.

I wish they had sold it in volumes though, because I think their recent sets have been very... skimpy on extras or things I like such as art cards, etc. But... it seems that the majority of people hold no value to such things so they want to pay as little as possible regardless of what is lost.

I just hope they'll manage to get Holo's special way of talking across. Would be too bad if she just speaks standard english ...

Whoa, a lot of work coming in for Ms. Palencia, it seems. Definitely an interesting choice; I look forward to seeing what she can do with Holo.

@maaya: Whatever happens, I'm sure the dub will make an effort to replicate Ami Koshimizu's work. The guys at Funi must have seen at least some of the praise she's gotten.

Indeed. Go Funi! Damn, I can't wait for this one.

What is this special way of talking? I've never noticed the different dialects and accents of Japanese (I only speak English, can you blame me?), but a lot of people, not just Japanese obsessed fans, talk about Holo's accent.

Hmmm...well, it's a little difficult to describe. I don't know if it's special per se (I've got no Japanese comprehension, either), but the overall performance is very polished and unique. It has something of a lilting quality, maybe. If you really want to know I'd recommend just grabbing a fansub of the first episode. Best to hear for yourself.

I agree with you that releasing in one set is a great idea, esp in this recession. Perhaps taking a page out of economics, 1 boxset instead of 3 separate volumes = less $ spent = happy anime fans Very Happy

I can't wait to hear Brina's Holo voice since it's got to be different than her Chopper one, which is the only one I heard of any of her roles. I don't think a kiddy voice would work for the more mature Holo.

The same Brina Palencia who made Nina Tucker sound brain damaged in the Fullmetal Alchemist dub? Well, at least she's good in Shin-chan.

It's apparently the way the Japanese imagine their deities to speak, Nagi from Kannagi did it too. They insert a lot of "ja's" into their sentences, and in Horo's case, she uses the word "nushi" a lot for when she says "you". It's probably not an easily replicated way of speaking in English.

Funny how that works, isn't it.

I will certainly be buying it since I was interested in the series.

Forgive me. Does FUNi even have a UK subsidiary? Embarassed

Ah, thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I'll go give it another try Smile I did like Horo/Holo's character as well as Lawrence, but I think I wasn't focusing on it and missed out on the point I guess Anime hyper Though if I end up do liking it and possibly buying it I feel every time I would watch it I would want to eat Rolo's :/ (Holo)

Additionally, the first release will feature episodic character performances by such veteren actors as Christopher Ayers, Bob Carter and Chuck Huber.

First release? Do they have a Viridian Collection already planned? Razz Just kidding. But really, I don't understand this when these voice actors don't seem to be too involved with this particular series. Same goes for that Nabari no Ou cast announcement...

Anyway, I thought Horo was already being referred as Holo long before this license, so I don't see the need to be picky...
