Ooh, this is certainly interesting. Those two manga would translate pretty well into live-action format, although I don't plan on seeing the MPD Psycho one, since I'm considerably more squeamish about gruesome live-action murders than I am about the ones in print.

Kurosagi's been "in development" for years now. Hopefully them mentioning it means there's some kind of movement on the project. MPD Psycho is.. unexpected. Guess I should hurry up and see Miike's mini-series before the US movie hits.

Yet future volumes of both series are yet to appear anywhere, both stuck on volume 9 with no mention of future volumes on a single website - anywhere!

Both volumes came out back in May, less than two months ago. If you look at Dark Horse's webpage, you'll note that they're released at somewhat irregular rates, so that's really not that long. And might I add from experience with Blade of the Immortal, Dark Horse will almost always be the first website to list when a future volume will be available. Check there regularly, not Amazon or Rightstuff. Smile

My question is: would Kurosagi stay in Japan? I don't see this quite working as well with American seminarians who can't get calls at churches...

WooHoo! I get to look forward to a sanitised, homogenised, bastardisation of one the most original mangas of the decade (Kurosagi).

The first time I read Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service I thought it was an OEL manga

I haven't read Kurosagi yet, in the process of reading MPD Psycho, and after that will watch the Tv series of MPD Psycho... so I wonder how close the live action tv will be to the book and then to the new movie X.X Nonetheless, super excited if any of these actually get made. Seems like anime movies are being announced left and right and I've yet to see a decent American made one.

That, or it'll get turned into torture-porn ala Saw.

Well, we can still hold out hope, can't we? I think it's too "Japanese" to get converted into something that will get widespread popularity in America without bastardizing the hell out of it. If a Japanese company was making a live action movie, now that would be another story.

Kurosagi would make for excellent material in a live-action. Simply because a lot of it doesn't have some of that exaggerated stuff we see in other genres that would be hard to translate on a live-action screen. I'd make for an interesting movie.
