Not really feeling sorry for someone who sells pseudoscience and was very rude to me and other people I knew when I met her at a con.

I don't know what this says about me as a person, but when I read this news my first reaction (after, "WTF?!") was, "Thank God it isn't obscenity..." I guess we'll find out more when this thing goes to trial.

If it really is DXM then the only thing she was trying to stimulate was hallucinations. Take enough of that stuff and that's what it will do. It's called Robo-tripping (as in Robitussin). See the the drug, which is a synthetic morphine analog, works as a cough suppressant by blocking the automated cough reflex found in the nervous system. Take too much (technically speaking an overdose since this is a legal drug), and it starts blocking other regions of the brain producing various "effects".
She's a drug peddler, plain and simple. The only thing taking these would stimulate is sitting on your bed and going ooh and ahh for 6-8 hours. If it was labeled to help get rid of coughs and such that would be different, maybe. But clearly these are marked to be abused. |

The big question though is whether or not she was aware that the pills contained DXM as an active ingredient or otherwise. The article doesn't provide enough information for me. I would hope people who sell herbal supplements would know what was in them, but I'm not sure if she was in the pharmaceutical side of the process or if she was simply in sales. Assuming she was in sales I can't say whether she intentionally mislabeled it or was truthfully unaware they contained anything illegal. |

As it oftentimes does. That said, I too was at first worried that this was going to be another obscenity case. This, on the other hand, probably won't have much affect on anything for those not directly involved. Like she said, the company will go on, so those that purchased their products will still be able to get them. |

How so? She's the owner of Yaoi Press, right? That business could be considered an asset. Seizure of assets is what the government also does. (In this article, it mentioned that her home could be seized.) She also has a public defender for an attorney. Bad, bad news... That was funny, accelagirl.
