Geez. It's almost becoming 'law' that all manga-ka suffer various 'health issues'...Anyone else think there should be a reform for manga-ka rights in Japan?

I really think it's the swine flu scare that's making all these special guests cancel. Rolling Eyes The over-hype of this "epidemic" is getting out of control.

I thought so, too. It`s pretty pathetic... anyone canceling their plans because of H1N1 like this really needs to consider if they should ever bother walking outside again; anything can happen. It`s just too dangerous to risk. Rolling Eyes

Before anyone posted this morning, I wondered if this were more of the Japanese afraid of our H1N1.
So wear gloves & a mask!.

I've seen a couple of news reports indicating that the Japanese are hyper-aware and worried about H1N1. I wouldn't be surprised if she canceled because of that.

My bet's on H1N1 too. Sad
Aren't the forums always filled with "Did anyone else catch xxx virus from yyy-con?" type messages every single year?

Still, it does seem a little *ahem* cowardly if H1N1 is the reason. Just carry a pack of Tamiflu...

Yaoi-con really hasn't had the best of luck with their guests of honor the last couple years. First the whole Nitta thing and now Haruka Minami can't come. Honestly, I'll bet you she really is sick. If she was afraid of Swine Flu, why would she even agree to attend in the first place? Why would she write a whole blog post and let 801Media translate it for the fans about how excited she was to meet her US fans? It's sort of weird that everyone automatically assumes she's faking it...

Also, she could have a condition which would make catching H1N1 more dangerous for her health. We don't really know so the speculation seems kind of uncalled for.

I didn't say that was it, but there was a lot of noise last spring. Everything died down, then the epidemic was declared, reminding everyone of it. She might have agreed during that lull before the Pres's declaration of our emergency state or whatever we're in.

The radio this morning was saying people are sending their kids over to play with kids with H1N1 so they'll get it & get it over with. People are crazy.

God I hate her works. Her guys look like little boys and girls. It feels like I'm reading shota or loli. Hope she feels better though.
