You do realize this is based on an H-game, right? The fanservice is kind of to be expected.

Well, Key did rate, and I quote, "lots of nudity", as a plus and not a minus. So as long as you like that sort of thing, then I suppose this Anime might be, er, "serviceable". Heh.

Is that really the cover art? Where's Mii? She is one of the main characters after all! Konami (The girl with long brown hair) is just a minor character... That's a shame, my favorite character is Mii, Oh well... I already have the old Geneon issued box-set issued back in '07, with the original 3 sisters on the cover, looks like I shouldn't be complaining... anyway I have played the game (which has the same opening that which the very famous Caramelldansen internet meme started) and it's vastly different from the anime itself, I was mostly disappointed to find out that the game's storyline is far better then the anime adaption. However the anime is enjoyable to some extent.

I actually liked this one a bit, and bought the briefly produced Geneon boxset.

There were some stinkers in there, but I rather liked the filler episode about Mea and the ghost (inverted convention by having Mea be unfriendly and rude to the little girl the entire time) and the hot springs episode was a pretty good parody; they literally spent the entire episode going to three or four different hot springs.

Also, plus points for deleting the male main character from the game and just doing something with the girls. That tends to improve things in shows like this. It even makes fanservice less likely to annoy when there isn't someone over-reacting to it. In which case, there's so much nudity I became desensitized to it pretty quickly.

I can't really disagree with this review's refusal to recomend, but I do think this was somewhat above average for an adaptation of a porn game.

As far as soft-core anime, it was as well as could be expected.

Well i liked it a lot.

I bought it after reading Carlo Santos's Review Of Vol 2 and was hooked. in a way this series made me a rabid junkie for fanservice.

though i disagree of both reviewers raiting for the dub.it aint FMA good but it's still passable.

however it does have a decent storyline to tell and it wont hurt to have in intriguing one as well for an ecchi series based from a hentai game. not to mentioned having ways for character development for a series this short. i also liked how they did development for mai when spoiler[she was left on earth for 5 years.] My fav eps were ep 8 even though it was kind of a filler cause it showed deep family bonding with the sisters without the need of fanservice cause there's a time and place for them and also ep 7 when daichi now a dad creates conflicts that's normally not in series that's heavy on fanservice which is a plus.

I'm not surprised this reviewer didn't like it cause it has lots of fanservice,

i recomend this series if you haven't gotten the geneon releases, but if you like lots and lots of fanservice, but have some mysterious storyline added as well. then go for it. for others it's a rental cause though it has a interesting take in the slice-of-life genere popotan will have more boobs. AND A LOT OF IT.

it's indeed a true test of one's tolerance for fanservice.

My Grade:

Overall (dub) : B-
Overall (sub) : B-
Story : B-
Animation : A-
Art : A-
Music : B

[EDIT: Fixed broken link. And in the future, please try to actually use capitalization rules consistently. - Key]

I too was quite surprised to not see Mii on the cover. She's pretty much the mascot character of the series. It's as if Sentai went out of their way not to put the loli on the cover.

Forgive me for being dense...but, did Osamu Tezuka rise from the grave to compose the music for Popotan? Shocked

Mii is exclusively featured on the back cover. I did also find it odd that a character who only directly appears in two episodes was featured on the cover along with two of the stars, though.

Oh, good God, what do I have to do to make it clear that I AM NOT MARKING SERIES DOWN BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOTS OF FAN SERVICE??? (Unless said fan service sucks, of course.) You did read what I put in the plusses line, right?

The fanservice is the reason why I would buy it. I admit that a lot of the anime I like, I don't judge the story to see it, rather the fanservice.

Probably off bathing and groping another one of her friend's breasts or doing another Calvin Klein underwear shoot.

I'd love to see Sentai Filmworks quote this on the box to give unsuspecting people uncomfortable with underage nudity and panty shots a head's up she's the "star" of this "fanservice", since it's pretty obvious who gets more air time in this series.

When I read Carlo Santos' review, I had assumed the "kiddie porn" reference was pointed at Mai, the high school girl. While he also used the term "lolicon" in reference to Mii, never thought the two were related in this manner.

While I have no issues with cartoon nudity, I most certainly stopped its viewing until I was alone in the house. Most nudity is acceptable in adult form by casual observers, but trying to explain Mii would be extraordinarily difficult, especially when trying to use the crap story as the excuse.

So, for those who are itching to buy this title, just be warned of the up-and-coming porn star named Mii, as she definitely shows her love for the girl-on-girl action by face planting herself in her guest's chest to check out their "puffy puffs".

I'm siding with Key on this one in relation to the story. It had merit to be excellent, but instead, was given the back seat. I rated the series with a "D".

To be fair, there is a couple of gem episodes in this series. The fore-mentioned Mai being left behind, but also the episode Mai's dealing with Konomi in the future.

Two episodes. Out of 12. I'd be cautious at spending more than $12 for this series unless you truly love lolicon.

So are Kanon and Air. H-game adaptations aren't a guarantee of constant nudity.

Those are KyoAni shows, though; they know they can get a lot more viewers making it all-ages than keeping the fanservice. SHAFT just kind of does what they want.
