Ok, we all know that over half of the world's population of girls is obsessed with Twilight (myself not included, for I dislike Twilight). Now there's a manga being made for it? This is rediculious.

They probably have not heard of a game called Castlevania. The main villain is a vampire. * GASP *

I am sick and tired of hearing about Twilight this and Twilight that. I love how the vampire trend have practically taken over mainstream media.

I find it hummorious how the parents are able to stand their daughters/sons, yes there are some, when I say some I mean not alot, Twilight fan boys, you know who you are. Obsesion with the crappy Vampire serise. (no offence to anyone that likes it Embarassed )

I also find it funny how alot of those late night talk shows like Leno, and the Tonight show, get paid to make fun of Twilight.

Now only if the world got obsessed with an anime instead of Twilight. that would be the best day of my life.

Regardless of what we think of Twilight (no interest on my part) this might be good for manga and anime in general since its access to a more general audience. I half hope for a Twilight anime, and that its of good quality, just for the publicity or serving as a gateway to manga and anime in general. Of course that's being optimisitic on my part and really a cash grab to an extent for Yen Press. But introducing manga to more of the general public? I'll let it slide.

That's true, but let's just hope that a Twilight manga/anime doesn't start to make our fav animes/mangas dissapper.

What if the anime were Vampire Knight?

Now if it were Vampire Knight, all anime fans rejoice, cus it's not Twilight.

Erm...looking at the previews, the art is pretty. Yea, the art is pretty. The cover is pretty too.

I honestly cannot think of any more good comments about it. The artist, Young Kim is pretty good. But that's it.

Yen Press getting more cash equals more licenses and potentially a greater willingness to keep going with lower selling series. And this will very likely serve as a gateway for new fans. Yen Press reps previously made statements that they intended to use things like this and the Maximum Ride adaptation for cross-promotion to hopefully benefit their manga/light novels.

While I personally don't care about a Twilight manga (though to be honest I kinda liked the movie, though I still can't take twinklpires seriously) it could bring in a lot of new people to manga and anime if it's handled right.

The only thing that is making our favorites vanish is lack of sales. That has more to do with "fans" using illegal, non-profit making for the creators methods of enjoying those favorites. Stuff like this tends to sell well because the fans aren't as wed to the "never use official/legal or buy anything" philosophy of so many in our fandom.

I have to say, the cover's pretty. And I'm interested to see if Young Kim improves the story any (as in giving Bella and Edward's characterizations some DRASTIC plastic surgery).

And 350k copies? Wow. If this turns out to be a hit, Yen will be able to license a bunch of stuff. I hate Twilight, but it's definitely a good thing for the Anime Industry to tap this cash cow for all its worth.

Good art cannot make up for a bad story. Just sayin'. Also the Twilight fervor has died down quite a bit.

I'm actually kinda disappointed this isn't getting the treatment that the Labyrinth "manga" got: pretty cover art, ugly comic art inside.

New Moon had the biggest opening day of any movie ever. It's not dead, it's just in remission until June.

I just don't get why people are treating Twilight as "The Enemy". Yes, I know the obvious reasons. The terrible story, the poor-quality movies, and the extremely Yangire fanbase. But it's pretty clear that Yen Press is only doing this because it prints money. They aren't doing it to stroke the author's ego, to flood the market with more Twilight crap, or as a gift to the Twitards. They're doing it for themselves, and indirectly, for us.

Yen doesn't care about Twilight, Maximum Ride, or any of that Gossip Girl crap. They're only doing that because they realize that they need to do some things differently to survive as a publisher. But they're still publishing manga and manwha the same as usual, so there's no need for us to feel threatened by it. The more money they make off of this, the more licensed titles they'll be able to publish. There's no negative scenario in this for us.
