The Junjō Romantica DVD Collection will include the series' complete 12-episode first season – plus video extras and a 24-page booklet with character biographies, artwork and behind-the-scenes information – housed in a colorful, Thinpak-style art box.

Awright, special features! We can always count on RightStuf... Anime hyper

This is great! I hope all the fangirls will buy it.

Did anyone else think it was strange that Right Stuf is doing this and not Media Blasters? I always associate MB with BL anime. I think they're the only ones who've released it over here aside from CPM's couple of titles.

It's not that strange considering RightStuf had Gravitation before this. Of course, if RS hadn't picked up Junjo, we can be sure that MB would have.

I wasn't expecting a dub, but it's still a little disappointing. I hope these extras are enough to make up for the sub only release.

I'm just curious... is this trashy yaoi or is it yaoi with a decent plot?

I haven't seen the anime, but I'm reading the manga. It's an 18+ rated title for sex scenes (which from what I understand are downplayed in the anime), but it's mostly a romantic comedy with a BL theme. Whether it's "trashy" or not, I think would be subjective.

Happy to spot this on the main page, even though it didn't get its own headline. Will be pre-ordering this as soon as RightStuf lists it on their site.

I'm kind of wondering which of the titles Shawne Kleckner was referring to in the ANNCast interview a few weeks past. He mentioned that one of the licenses they were working on was getting some interference regarding image rights, and that it was coming form the original creator. At first I though it was this title, but since this one has been announced first, now I'm thinking it might be Antique Bakery. I hope that one (AB) gets a release date soon, I was very excited about its licensing announcement.

(edited to say: it IS listed on RightStuf's Site in the pre-order section. I just ordered it! Pre-order price is attractive at $37.49)

Normally I wouldn't look twice at a BL title, but this one seems to bring some prestigious names to the table. The ANN description seems amusing, so I'll probably keep this on my radar.

This is basically a romantic comedy with some serious overtones.

Has any straight-up BL anime released over here gotten a dub? I can't think of any besides Gravitation, actually. I know a lot of BL fans are also fans of the Drama CD voice actors (who are often cast in the same roles if an anime is made) and therefore prefer the Japanese audio anyway. And let's face it, a lot of us are just so dang grateful it's getting released period, dub or not, that we'll buy it regardless.

The sex scenes sort of have a dark gradation to the side of the screen where the, um, "action" is happening. It's nothing too jarring or distracting and I thought it was quite well-handled. And the DVD versions* just remove that shading, although it still isn't showing anything too explicit. It's a far cry from Sensitive Pornograph or the average hentai title. The manga, on the other hand, is definitely explicit.

*going by the Japanese DVDs-- so I'd assume the American DVD release will be similarly "unshaded."
