Can't argue with that. It's good enough that I was able to get my anime club to watch the whole thing at our meetings, and these are people that can barely get through one episode of anything without wanting something different.

I thought it came out in 2007.

Yes but it came out from Funimation in 2009, which I can only assume is what they meant. IMO, it is one of the top to be released in 2009 for sure.

I think I see this week's point of controversy (I mean seriously, for every hot guy in Geass, there's a hot girl). Laughing

And nice Shiki statue indeed.

Add: Baccano! is one of the best series of 2009/7. Not that there's a shortage of praise going around.

On the bright side, at least we'll have Moffat's Eleventh Doctor to look forward to...?

Totally agree with Baccano. That show's fabulous. Cool

I have that Shiki figurine as well. When I saw it, I didn't even know who she was, but it just looked so good that I had to have it. One of these days I'll have all my stuff displayed so I can send it in to Shelf Life.

All this good press about Baccano is getting me close to buying it. I think I saw a small bit of it at Otakon when I stopped in on one of the video rooms, but I can't really recall much about it. Perhaps if I don't have anything else more pressing to watch I'll pick it up.

Hooray for Baccano!! Glad to see it get a good review. The boxset was a no-brainer for me!

I was one of the people than went in completely clueless when it was streaming here on ANN. Boy, I'm so glad I didn't know anything, because the impact of the plot twists really don't hit you as hard if you know even remotely what's coming.

I loved the dub. Top notch stuff, imho--especially the voice actor for Ladd. By far my favorite newcomer to the VA scene!

Johnathan, you should be proud of that Air TV boxart too, I know I'd kill to have one of those...

Sadly since they're out of production, they're slightly overpriced in my book.

It was like the episode of Daria where she suggests the children play "mushroom," claiming that the rules are "Whoever makes a noise or drops a spore loses."

Excellent recall... *shakes fist at MTV's lack of boxsets until this year*

This review of Linebarrels actually makes it sound interesting, so hope the AS showing turns out good.

Ooh, I love that Higurashi/When They Cry poster! I want to find one and "take it home with me"! Wink

Anyway, Baccano was easily my favorite '09 R1 anime and I've got the artbox/volumes, I'm waiting for two-packs for the Case Closed movies 3-6, and probably passing on Linebarrels of Iron.

Really? Sure the cast may have been made up of good-looking guys, but that's fully compromised with girls having all their half-naked scenes or wearing revealing outfits. I'm not saying girls can't enjoy this series, but I have a different impression who the target audience was. If anything at all, I thought Gundam Seed was a real girl-friendly series, although some may beg to differ on that.

Baccano really took me by surprise, in the best way possible. Some people have complained about the accents, but it felt natural enough to me as I watched it, and I thought the bonus episodes at the end made a pretty good additional story rather than make the series itself feel anticlimactic. Also, Isaac and Miria are such an eccentric couple, it's hard to tell whether they're dumb or just weird. They know what they're doing when they're doing it, and that's not what you call stupid, but they're so flighty and their heads so far up in the clouds, I just don't know sometimes. But that's part of their charm, and in a strange way this whole series was charming. It really kept me glued, wondering who was going to make it, how the characters were going to be interconnected, and what their individual outcomes would be.

This week's guy has a great collection, although I'm curious as to why he has both all the single discs and the thinpak for Rahxephon. I so want to know where he got the Higurashi poster as well, me being the huge Higurashi fan that I am (in addition to the series and the manga I also own all the import CD's).
