As long as they haven't managed to mess up the contrast again. 1.01 was almost unwatchable in dark scenes unless you shoved the brightness setting waaaay up. Luckily fixed with 1.11.
Amazon.co.jp don't have any date listed, but they do list both a DVD and a BD version, which is reassuring.

Hopefully this is THE final version and we don't get another 'remastering' with 'additional footage.
Nice to get a Blu-ray release at the same time though.

If only Evangelion was really that simple. I hope Funimation gets this soon.

I tried a few searches on that site, it doesn't list any BD for some reason. Besides, it's 2.22, not 2.02, I think the message is clear. That it's the definitive version like 1.11 - at least for a time longer than half a year. Milking is milking, but judging from Amazon comments, japanese anime fans really really dislike it when series are coming out on DVD only.

I think you might have read the article wrong, bud. This is the first time Evangelion 2.0 is being released on disc. It isn't another re-release of 1.0.

not definitive final version until we get the confirmation on the blu-ray release. Still waiting on that.

Evangelion is truly the Star Wars of anime. Both in terms of being revolutionary and having unnecessary re releases every year.

I rented 1.01 and didn't have any problems with it.

Hopefully movie 2 won't have too many versions.

As long as there's a chance to....you pray they don't Anime dazed

What I'm wondering about is - am I the only one (already) praying for the 3rd movie not to get to (or not to stop at, for that matter) 3.33? Laughing

Yes! Finally a release date! May 26 is a long way away, but at least now I can use this to keep myself from watching the cam version. Oh boy oh boy new Eva...
