Wow, they're adapting this into a film? Now this is surprising. Didn't expect this.

How many 'Tomokazu's can you find? Now that's pretty funny.

Awesome, I can't wait to see Vertraute Fremde!

It's like I'm not sure why America seems to think they need to adapt Akira or Cowboy Bebop into a live action movie, why can't they pick something that doesn't already have an animated movie that has a far more universally adapted story? Picking A Distant Neighborhood was a great brilliant if you ask me. I've read the manga, I can't wait to tell my German teacher about this in about an hour!

Quartier Lointain enjoyed a huge success here in France, even becoming somewhat of a mainstream title, reaching far outside of the traditional manga fanbase (like most of Taniguchi's works released after Quartier Lointain here), and it seems like it was quite successful in Germany too, so it's no wonder that some European companies were interested in giving this project to a French/German director such as Garbarski. After watching this trailer and some of Garbarski's previous movies, I must say I'm really waiting for this movie. And the fact that the original manga is one of the best Gekiga ever done is quite a turn on too.

Strange thing it was filmed in German though, since the story takes place in France, most main actors are French, and Garbarski mainly (only ?) did movies in French before this one. Well, I can understand the language quite well too, so that's not really a problem for me.

OH NOEZ! They changed the setting to Distant Neighborhood! What would happen if they did the same thing to Akira?! Laughing

Nice. Looks like they're being very faithful to the original manga despite changing the setting in Vertraute Fremde. I really hope someone brings it over to the US.

Wonderful World sure is sooooo PROMISING!!!

Majority of the actors/actresses are very familiar to me - they're my fave seiyuus!!!!

But what makes me look forward for this was because Namikawa-san's debut movie direction. He's my fave seiyuu...so let's see if he can be my fave director ^^

Nice to hear about, hopefully it'll be a little boost to the manga, if still a little obscure since it's German.
