"Gantz" and "Saw" are two different franchises with each having its own heroes, villains, and settings. Just becasue two franchises have a few similarities doesn't necessarily make them one franchise. Sadly, some people don't know how to distinct two different series of a common genre genre/subgenre anymore, and it's already bad enough that there are already those who keep confusing "The Matrix" and "Ghost In The Shell", which have nothing to do with each other. |

Maybe, if Saw was even half as entertaining as Gantz (the manga anyway). The Saw franchise is being milked to death, at least that's not happening to Gantz. Anyway I have two words for a US remake of Gants: YES PLEASE! |

Anyways: yeah, no. I'm not thinking that this is such a good idea. As "Fist of the North Star" and "City Hunter" (yes, there was a "City Hunter" movie; it had Jackie Chan and it was junk) have proved before, anime is a very challenging medium to translate to film. The only decent American-made, live-action anime-based film I saw was "Dragonball Evolution", and even that was only good in that "it's freakin' cheesy that it's hilarious"-type of way. HOWEVER, when Japan is involved with the making of the movie, it ends up being pretty good for some reason ("Death Note", "Mushishi", "20th Century Boys"). But Japan would not be a part of this project, and I have a bad feeling that whoever made it here would butcher the living crud out of it, in a vain attempt to make it appealing to mass audiences. Hollywood needs to come up with more original ideas, and stop trying to grab onto pre-existing works which happen to be popular and reworking them into film form. A remake of Gantz, intresting. I would love to see a live-action Gunslinger Girls done by Italy.

Never saw "Saw" and maybe never will. It didn't interest me. I been meaning to give Gantz a try. My question is how the US and The UK can request the same license if the language is the same. Unless they are going to do separate versions of it. I do hope someone gets the distribution license. It looks kinda cool. |

I hope this is just a rumor. An American live action of Gantz would be potentially awful. I'm sure Kurono would be played by Shia LaDouche or some generic Michael Cera-look-alike and the plot would look more like Spider-man than Gantz. Overreacting too much? It's a manga about an socially awkward teenager who got a super suit. The "spider-manization" would be a lot easier than Dragon Ball.
