After the non-Wong-directed The Final Destination (a.k.a. Final Destination 4), which I found fairly lackluster compared to the first three (the first and third of which Wong directed), I was kinda hoping James Wong would just return to the Final Destination franchise to revitalize it instead of taking on non-Final Destination projects.

Not that I've seen or will ever see Dragonball Evolution to have much of an opinion of James Wong as a director outside of the Final Destination franchise, though I did enjoy many X-Files episodes he directed.

OH DEAR [expletive] LORD.

This guy directed Dragonball Evolution, folks. I believe that explains itself.

This is like giving the keys to a man who just drove a car through a convenience store window.

What exactly was wrong with the original Japanese version? I'm really sick of American directors remaking Japanese movies. Can't we come up with our own stuff any more?

I hate to be the guy that shouts "stop killing Japanese products", but I have to do it to this guy. I'm usually positive about things like this, but this man is just terrible. The One was bad, Dragon Ball: Evolution was flat out terrible (I have yet to come in contact with someone who enjoyed it). DB: E should have been proof enough that this man just can't adapt things. Even people who had never seen Dragon Ball knew it was garbage.
